Obviously that thing about Sterling is gossip rather than gospel but if it's true he's asking for 50k a week it makes the blood boil. He looks a promising young player but there's no way you'd think he was worth that. And before anyone says it yes there quite probably are players out there earning more than that who are not as good.
It's a no win situation of course becauise if they say no and he leaves then they'll be ridiculed for being misers and if they say yes they'll be accused of giving in to ridiculous wage demands based on potential rather than what he's delivered. It would be nice to see someone take a stand on this one day but I probably wouldn't blame them for rolling over to prevent City or Chelsea moving in with a better deal.

I've been reading the "rival watch" thread on the Mouser board, and they were commenting on the Arsenal v Fulham game.
Why?
Neither of those teams are rivals for 'Pool. Both those teams are sure to finish in the top half of the table.
Surely, 'Pool should be using that thread to comment on the likes of Villa, Sunderland, and Norwich?

There's a stat going around that implies Liverpool are utterly reliant on Suarez.
If you take away his goals and assists, then Rodgers would only have scraped together 2 points, apparently.
A bit meaningless, as there clearly would be somebody else playing in his absence, but it does serve to highlight a major problem, in my opinion.

Brendan Rodgers issues Liverpool reality check
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says finishing above last year's eighth spot in the league would be "fantastic". The Reds are unbeaten in six league games but lie in 13th spot after a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.
Luis Suarez has been directly involved in 10 of Liverpool's 14 goals this season (71%), with eight goals, and two assists. Liverpool's 57% possession against Chelsea was the most by a visiting team at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League since Arsenal in Feb 2010.
"The reality is we're a long way off in the league," said Rodgers. "We finished eighth last year. If we can improve on that, it'll be fantastic for us. That's the reality of where Liverpool are I'm afraid. But our young players will get better and better."
Rodgers knows that with funds limited at the club it will take time to try to improve the Merseysider's fortunes, although he has urged his rebuilding process is not hindered by harking back to the club's illustrious past.
"They're very educated, Liverpool supporters. It can't be easy for them," said Rodgers. Most of us in this room know Liverpool and its great history, but we can't keep looking in the rear view mirror and looking back. If you're not going to have a massive investment to make it happen quickly, you have to develop it. That's where we're at. The supporters are being very lenient with myself and the team, and I'm sure they'll be frustrated sometimes, but their support has been incredible."
While funds may be restricted at Liverpool, Rodgers will be hoping to strengthen his attack in the January transfer window. Luis Suarez, who scored the equaliser against Chelsea, is the club's only established striker and he has scored eight of Liverpool's 14 league goals this season and provided two assists.
"We need one or two more players," added Rodgers. "That [the Chelsea result] is our sixth draw, and a lot of those games we've come back into after going behind. But we need materials. If we can get one or two in January, we'll turn draws into wins. Those players don't come cheap, and they're not too many available in January either. But the owners have given me great support since I've been here. I knew it would be a difficult year given the expectancy in Liverpool."

It will be "fantastic" (his words, not mine, although I have said exactly the same thing - see my recent postings on this very thread) if 'Pool can manage last season's mammoth achievement by finishing a mighty 8th in the league.

Whatever excuses the Mousers might make of the matter, two things are apparent: (a) Suarez was clearly surprised that none of his mates joined him in the celebrations, and (b) the rest of the 'Pool team made a clear point about not celebrating with him.
Something is not right.
