I'm sure he will get a great reception from the crowd tonight

  5. I note that 'Pool embarrassed themselves and their fans in Europe, tonight. Yet, somehow, the Mousers think they deserve to be playing in the CL.

I'd like to believe that, after tonight's debacle, the Mousers will reassess their club's place in the world of football and treat us with some respect.

The stand out thing tonight isn't that what is basically our youth squad getting beaten away by one of the best teams in Russia, it's HIAG's assessment of our performance

No matter what our 'place in the world of football' is you never show us any respect HIAG, so has that comment got anything to do with us winning 8 major European trophies

  7. What's to respect?

A club that should have been bankrupted, but sold off on the cheap to to some foreign Yanky owner. Disgraceful treatment of Roy 'the Gent" Hodgson, despite the fact that he did far better for you than either Kenny-Boy or Roy Rodgers. A sanctimonious clamour for the return of "king" Kenny, despite the fact that you were warned by many of us normal fans that the man was poison for you. Klan-gate. A Championship manager that you Mousers are claiming is the best thing since Bob Palsley, despite the fact that he has presided over your worst ever campaign in over 100 years. The adoption of diving as a viable means of winning games, despite the fact that fans the world over are sick and tired of the seeing such tactics disgrace our beautiful sport. And, now, humiliation in Europe.

There is absolutely nothing to respect about the modern 'Pool.

Also, please explain something to me. Why does 'Pool work so hard to get into Europe, and yet when it gets into the competition it fields a 5hite team that clearly has no chance of winning? Your attitude towards the Europa League smacks of abject arrogance.

If you are talking about a profitable company saddled by debt, then yes I guess our owners deserved to be bankrupted. As for selling it off on the cheap, are you not the one who was telling us the club was worth peanuts? How much more than the £300mill do you think the club was worth?

Its a strange anomaly that the only former manager of Liverpool that opposing fans do not slate is Roy Hodgson, why could that be? You may call him a 'gent' but all I saw was an egotistical man, who would shift blame, push everyone else, anybody he could find under the bus to save his own face, all whilst talking about how great he is. No doubt he is a decent man, but I wouldn't sing his praises, oh but he was friendly to all and sundry in a 'Arry kind of way. Read these 10 quotes from him if you really want to have a laugh http://www.thisisanfield.com/2010/11/10-disastrous-quotes-of-roy-hodgsons-lfc-reign/. But oh yeah, he is a brilliant man and a brilliant manager, England's gain and all that.

On to your concern with our support of Dalglish and Rodgers, would you prefer the 'Roy the Gent Hodgson' treatment? Maybe you could chisel a new set of 10 commandments which we could follow on support of mangers (which would of course be exempt if a 'gent' became our next manager) I'll start you with number 1. Thou shall boo loudly when manager makes substitution we do not agree with

Luis Suarez how dare he darken the doors of our great league with the never before seen on these shores act of dastardly diving. How dare Rodgers suggest a player might be better off taking a tumble, we all know you can only say these things behind closed doors.

A clearly well thought out argument there false prophet,

Liverpool 4 games played 6points 2nd in group
Tottenham 4 games played 6points 2nd in group

Do Spurs suffer from the same arrogance?

Anyhow I'm off to try and sleep, this insomnia is killing me

It's easy to see your bitterness through your tears HIAG and i hope one day you are fortunate enough to see Spurs scale the heights LFC have in the years since our last English league title win.

Since the heady days of the late great Bill Nick you personally haven't really had much to celebrate(except the demise of our club in your case)but Spurs are a club on the up at the moment and good luck to them, Spurs play attractive football to watch if that can bring you to the next level i'll be the first to congratulate you.

But do keep the bitterness going HIAG, it's very amusing.

I think it is a little unfair to single out Liverpool as not taking the Europa seriously. From where I'm sitting only Newcastle seem to be really bothered about it presumably because Spurs don't think they should be in it (which is obviously understandablen given their league placing last season) and both they and Liverpool don't appear to want to play full strength teams so as to concentrate on domestic competition - again understandable.
The only English teams that have even made the final in the last 10 years are Fulham and Middlesborough (yes I know who won it in 2001!) which, with respect to them and to the other teams in the competition, I think shows how the competition is viewed here. The comparison with performance in the Champions' League by English Clubs over the same period with 3 different clubs winning it, another one getting to the final and only 1 season where we have not had at least 1 semi finalist is telling.

  12. AVB is taking the competition very seriously, as can be seen from his team selection. Against Maribor, he even went against his usual tactic and played two up front.

From what I can see, only 'Pool are treating the competition like some kind of joke, and I hope they pay the price for it. 'Pool has more incentive than any other club, as well, because they are not going to get into Europe for a few seasons. Okay, so they won't win this season's competition, but you'd have thought they'd have given this one their best shot.

So we're both doing as well as each other, but one of us is fielding 'joke' sides in a much harder group?

One difference is the Suarez was 'tried' by the FA not a court of law. It is doubtful that Suarez would have been found guilty in a court the same as the Terry Not Guilty verdict.

  15. Are you being serious, or are you purposely winding me up?

We thrashed a Maribor side fielding a strong team, and you lost at Klanfield to a good Russian side fielding a joke 'Pool side. Yes, we might be on a par at the moment, but if Roy Rodgers continues down the path he seems set on, he will not progress further in the competition, but we will.

I am bound to say, of course, that I doubt that your best side would have fared any better. So, I suppose that Roy is not to blame for his strange tactics, because he probably feels that you are going to lose, at some point, anyway.
