Former Liverpool player Jan Molby has said that, if the Mousers moved for Davinson Sanchez in the summer, he would have chosen them over Spurs as Liverpool are the more attractive proposition.

Not to defenders they're not, Jan...

Yet another deluded former Mouser infesting the media with his opinions still stuck in the 1980`s, just one of many.

Also, everyone(including me) makes the mistake of assuming that Lovren and Sakho are simply bad defenders, and that Matip was a decent at best signing. They were all top drawer when they didn't play for Klopp, who can really say he's not the one making them look bad? They've had an okay 'keeper and , one good centreback and an utter ****show everywhere else to work with. In some ways it is a testament to Klopp's coaching ability that they didn't finish midtable last season but at the same time, the guy clearly doesn't know how to build a squad. They've got 1 defensive midfielder coming in next season, all the other good sides already have 2!

Someone at Dortmund definitely knew what they were doing. Players were bought and developed into a side that brought great results. They challenged Bayern and occasionally bested them. That's no small achievement and whoever developed and bought those players is a real talent.

Was that person Klopp? On current performance that is open to serious doubt. They had an iffy keeper in Mignolet and went and bought another. That's just rank bad management. A great goalkeeper can win you as many points as a star striker for a fraction of the cost. It's probably the cheapest way to significantly improve your team. Not many teams win the league with a dodgy keeper. I doubt anyone's done it by rotating 2 of them.

To identify VvD as the only centre half worth buying is just plain mental. Whether he could have signed Davinson Sanchez or not, the failure to even try is just plain bizarre. Anyone could see that the guy is a beast of a player. Strong, fast, good in the air, he doesn't seem to panic and is decent with the ball - he's just what they needed. Also, he cost half what they were prepared to pay for VvD and given his development potential he is going to rocket in value........and it was clear that VvD was a no go this summer at that point and that they'll pay absolute top dollar for him if they try again next year.

Negotiating lesson 101 - Never, and I mean NEVER, let anyone outside the family know what you're thinking. Who goes to buy a house or car and tells the seller that their's is the only possible option and nothing else in the whole world will do? You'd have to be the world's biggest idiot and you're going to be the world's poorest idiot pretty soon after that. I don't know what Klopp has fed FSG but they want their bumps feeling for going along with this nonsense.

Klopp is still following Brendan's blueprint - outscore the opposition. But he doesn't have Suarez.
Liverpool are still weak in every area of their defence - goalkeeper, full backs and centre backs.
And they haven't got a decent defensive midfielder either.
Klopp is hailed as a genius and master tactician, but he has Wengeresque myopia.
When Wenger was winning titles, he had a solid defence. SAF played attacking football, but always two of the best centre backs around (and for the most part the best 'keeper) and Mourinho has always put defence first.
You get away with a dodgy defence if you're Barcelona or Real Madrid, but in the PL even the relegation candidates will find out defensive weaknesses and exploit them.
Klopp should have looked elsewhere when VvD didn't sign.
Liverpool won't be winning the league.

As I said a few posts back, Norbert is starting to look like a 21st century Kevin Keegan. Look at the comparisons between the current Liverpool side and the 1995-6 Newcastle side
* Devastating going forward yet fragile at the back, so if their forwards have an off day grinding out wins is unlikely
* Several players of mid-table quality in key positions for a team thinking they can mount a title challenge
* The belief that adding more attackers evens out their defensive frailties
* A manager who can't control his emotions when things don't go to plan

What really stands out, though, is how Keegan's Newcastle team had things that Norbert's Liverpool team don't: a defensive midfielder in David Batty, while I'd honestly say Hislop and Srnicek were better keepers than either Mignolet or Karius.

You needed to add "most part" there. Many of us will remember Sniffer Bosnich, Scoop it out of the goal and look innocent Carroll, Bowling Ball Barthez. Between Schmeical and Van der Sar, there was much amusement to be had in Utd keepers. That is without mentioning Taibi, Goram, Van der Gouw.

Don't mention them. Please. Any of them<doh>

I still think successful teams have a couple of choppers in their team.
The best team of successful choppers were Liverpool in the days of Smith and Yates.
The dirtiest and sly team of choppers was Revie's Leeds.Which was a pity as they were almost forever second best.It was their undoing.
Man U always had them, but they seemed to have a ref on their side too.Sorry United fans but that was the truth!

A week after claiming that there weren't better options available to buy this summer than their current 'defenders'.......................

"The second ball after a corner, and a throw-in… I am sick of goals like this. You cannot play football. First goal we don't push up together, you can say it one time or 1000 times, it's not nice to concede these goals, and today it's again because of these..................................But that we concede like this, that makes me really, really sick.

How long before the press call this idiot out? I say The Emperor's got no clothes.

He won't get called out until he's out of the job, like all other Liverpool managers who promised the stars and ended up with a pack of lightbulbs from Wilkos.

The only reason the press went after Benitez is because he had the gall to call out Bacon Face for his bullshit.
