Yehh... Gervais' stand up is completely different to The Office also. Both very good. The ego is part of the act, too, it sets a lot of his jokes up (especially post The Office in the USA).

Dylan Moran is great though, really under-rated.

By your rule here then that means the Refs should never grant Gareth 'the Dive' Bale a freekick ever again every time he goes down claiming to have been taken down?

Clearly brain dead Spurs fans such as yourself can see the logic in that?

So you're saying the goal was correctly disallowed for a foul by Coates?

Did the Ref disallow it for a foul by Coates?

No of course he didn't you idiot but you already knew that.

  6. Was it Bob Paisley?

Not so much a father-figure as a grandfather-figure. How did he used to deal with players in the dressing room? Sit them on his knee and give them a Werther's Original?

But the strange thing is, that old grandfather Bob used to command the players' respect. So, I was wondering if this is something that Roy Rodgers should take up - the pipe. Obviously, he won't be able to smoke any actual tobacco, because it's probably banned from the dressing-room (as it is inside the ground), but he could sit there, on the touchline and in interviews, sucking on it, like dear old Bob used to do. It's probably more of an oral fixation thing, anyway.

With some Mousers, such as the hiliariously stupid DeyDooDoeDon'tDayDoe, comparing Roy Rodgers with the late great Bob Paisley, this could be just the kind of stunt that pays off for Rodgers.

Having had the misfortune to meet him, I can safely say the ego isn't part of his act - he's an obnoxious arse that needs Stephen Merchant to write all his jokes.

  9. I'd like to make it absolutely clear that I am not trying to make a play on words by suggesting that Bob Paisley took it up the pipe, or that Roy Rodgers should do the same. That would be in extreme bad taste.

The purpose of my post is not to wum, but to seek to engage in serious debate.

I don't recall paisley smoking a pipe but that's not to say he didn't. As great a manager as he was, he was of his time and it was a different era in the history of Liverpool Footbal Club as he had the benefit of the Anfield bootroom. I still think that dismantling that set up was the single biggest mistake ever made by the club.

But they ran out of good managers. ***an and Evans were not really up to it. You can only persevere with it if you have the right people.

What's with Gerrard's embarrassing rant today?
Not only has he been made to look pretty silly, but Stoke are going to kick the crap out of him when the teams meet again.
    More than they normally would...

Managers must despair at some of the public pronouncements made by their players. Obviously this was for the benefit of Liverpool fans to try and stir up the Mersey rivalry again but to drag Stoke into it was really silly. They're the last team you want to be winding up!

I find it hilarious that it is now unanimously accepted that saying a team 'plays like Stoke' is one of the harshest insults to a team. Mind you, Stoke are as anti-football as it gets

Funny, the one player on Sunday who looked like he'd walk into the Stoke team was Raheem Stirling - just as long as he cuts the diving out of his game...

Phil McNulty was useful for once in coming up with the statistics to make Gerrard's claim look foolish: Everton had more possession, passed more, completed more passes, and attempted fewer long passes. I'be enjoyed watching Everton this year.
