Gerrard has dived more times than Eduardo, who did it once against Celtic. Feel free to prove me wrong.
Bale... If that's true then it's obviously not commendable. I doubt it's that blatant (provide quotes and I'll happily change my mind). However there is more to a club's DNA than what one manager once said once in training. Don't be hyperbolic. I certainly don't see why fans should be given stick for it either - what is it to do with us? No fan wants diving. Don't think that's a defence whether it's Bale or Suarez (who gets lumps kicked/elbowed out of him). Two wrongs don't make a right etc. ... Nope.
I don't think it helped that he did it against Celtic to be fair - some of their fans can give the mousers a run for their money in terms of sanctimony and self pity and defending the indefensible. Only some mind..........
Bobby Charlton - the Manchester United years "when we won the league in 1957 Matt called us into the dressing room and said how proud he was that we'd played the game in the right way and with such a great sporting attitude. He reminded us that when he joined Liverpool in 1936 the manager George Kay regulalrly spoke about how, if they got in the other team's penalty area, they should go down at the slightest hint of contact. He really hated his tiome there as a result of that"
He quite clearly implies Liverpool are going to start cheating unless they start getting decisions. Basically it was a threat. Everyone else sees it for what it was
The thing is, Roy Rodgers isn't helping 'Pool's cause. Now that he has said that he will encourage his players to dive, refs are rarely (if ever) going to give his players the benefit of any doubt. Is he so ****witted that he cannot see that?
Find some none Liverpool fans who dont think B.Rodgers is implying his team might need to start cheating. Probably best not to ask fans of Spurs, United, City, Norwich, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, QPR, Southampton or the other 80 odd sides in english football bar Liverpool as you will be disappointed with the outcome. Its clear as day, if Fergie had done it there would be 19 threads on your board about how deluded senile the old scotch drink is and the majority of your posters would be posting how Fergies asking the refs for favours and telling his players to dive/cheat... Infact its happened before, Fergie has said United get **** all from the FA and guess what..............
More of your baseless garbage Dan. Melia lost his place to Ian St John and left, and Rush was fouled and a penalty was awarded end of story, the FA cup wasn't awarded at Vicarage Rd that night was it Dan? To pinpoint a legit pen awarded to us as the reason we won the double is Desperate Dan. There were 49 matches played in the double win.
I don't think we should be raking over 'Pool glories from the 70s and 80s. Let us all simply accept that 'Pool, back in those days of yore, were a real powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with, and whether we like it or not they were the best in Europe. Let the Mousers have their past, and let us all be respectful of it. However, what I would say, is that this thread is about the here-and-now, and the desperate struggles that face today's 'Pool, not about the glories of an ever-fading past. Having said that, I can see no harm in holding up the 'Pool sides of the 70s and 80s by way of comparing them with the shower of 5hite that plays for them these days.
Ian St John was happy to buy in to Bill's philosophy but Jimmy wasn't - and good luck to him. I also think to raise a disgraceful penallty ("foul" ) awarded in the 89th minute of an FA cup win is fair enouigh. If the ref had done his job you would have been knocked out and couldn't have won the FA Cup - ergo you could not have done the double. I also have it on good authority (a Minister who worked in the Department of education in the 1970s) that 7 teachers in Huyton and 9 in Edgehill were sacked for refusing to teach the children how to dive in the opposition penalty area. It's all a matter of public record. Another 79 teachers were dismissed from schools in Liverpool in the same period for refusing to substitue John lennon for Jesus in Religiouis education but we should probably not really go there.
I don't support Spurs but they were the first English team to win a European trophy and did the double 25 years before your state sponsored corporation did - and they never needed a corrupt ref to get them through an FA Cup quarter final. They are as entitled as you to bang on about hiostory you gormless troglodyte
I imagine they would be, but that's a moot point. He was deploring the decisions against us. He said no-one wanted to see diving, but that it seemed like it was the only way to get decisions - due to the refereeing he was deploring. That doesn't imply that he's told our players to dive. If anything, he's complaining over the state of the game when the only way to get points you rightfully deserve is to cheat or exagerrate.
Thats how you see it but you on this occasion are in the minority. As I said it was blatantly obvious what hes trying to do and to be fair good on him. Fergie does it after all, any manager worth his salt would.
