IMO Gary Neville has been an excellent pundit so far and he tells it how it is. Even said only reason he was in the England team was because there was no.competition for his place.
Garth Crooks' earnest and erudite delivery, I do find a little annoying. I wish he'd ease up a bit, because he's not a fool, and makes some good observations.
Alan Hansen annoys me because he doesn't have time for anyone else's view, with the possible exception of his former teammate Lawro.
Mark Lawrenson is similarly annoying, but nowhere near so. I actually don't jump on the bandwagon of damning him, but he's still annoying. Bit of a fence sitter, IMO.
Robbie Savage is a breath of fresh air. He's not really a pundit yet, as he hasn't said anything of consequence. Which is probably the best thing anyway.
Alan Shearer is just dull, super dull. He says the obvious and never looks beyond the straight and narrow, IMO. He wants to be in media, but should become a League Two manager and win his spurs that way.
Lee Dixon, I think is actually the best pundit of the lot, from the MOTD crowd, IMO and doesn't annoy me at all. Good post match analyser, and I think could do well as a presenter too.
Steve Claridge is actually quite likeable, because his enthusiasm shines through. Plus, he's very good at seeing the odd point, or making the odd comment that other people might be afraid to make. But he blows hot and cold, and needs to be a tad more professional, IMO. Good value though, especially on The Monday Night Club with Mark Chapman, on Radio 5.
Leroy Rosenior is just a nice bloke who quietly says what he thinks. Comes out with a lot of sense, which gets overlooked amongst the brasher egos.
That's my opinion of the football pundits I can get to see if I choose. I haven't seen much of the SKY people, but I realise from brief views, when they were on Freeview, that Chris Kamara is an absolute copper bottomed twit, who has no place on TV. Phil Thompson is so biased towards Liverpool it stinks. Charlie Nicholas actually knows what he's talking about, as does MLT, and the rest are just ciphers to me.
I have heard Stan Collymore from Talksport, on one occasion when he was presenting a match on the radio, and I found him quite entertaining. I think he makes a pretty good instant summariser/co-commentator/presenter, who is just a little different from the crowd. I can't leave out Dave Merrington, can I..? In turns brilliant and simply awful, but I love it mainly because his heart is 100% Saints. Which is odd because he's more northerner than Shearer. That's it really, there you go.
Don't mind Neville from what I'vd seen. Shearer seriously lacks charisma for me, very boring. Dislike savage the most, rubbish, loves himself, thinks he's funny, absolutley awful on the phone in with callers. To boot, seems to have no insight whatsoever as to how bad he is. Actually don't think Merse is too bad, although the whole I can't pronounce names things becomes a bit of a parody.

Gary Neville based his opinion of England being unable to win the European Championships off the back of ONE set of tactics for an away qualifier. Does that not suggest to you that he is 'pissing in the wind' as far as his 'knowledge' is concerned?
Are Gareth Barry & Scott Parker so "slow and immobile" that Manchester City & Tottenham Hotspur pay them a fortune every week to slow their respective teams down?

Gary Neville is an excellent pundit. Fair enough he is a bit dull, but he spots things tactically which are spot on. Some of the analysis he does on sky is brilliant. Compared to a lot of other pundits anyway

Wake up pal - England are NOT the best team in the world. Everybody in this country who expects too much from the National team just add their ignorance whenever a jumped-up prick like Gary Neville vomits his bitter vitriol.
If he was such a brilliant tactician, he would have gone into management - some men talk the talk and others walk the walk. Gary Neville just talks, and some right **** it is too.
Our National team is one of the best in the world - it's a statistical fact that is based on our results. People just can't get over the fact that there are a few teams ahead of us, so they throw all their toys out of the pram, say they "don't care about England anymore" and jump on the nearest bullshit bandwagon that slates our chances.

My least favourite is Andy Townsend for 2 reasons.
1 - He always refers to goal as goals. Unable ever to use the singular when it should be used (and would be even by the lowest English grade in Britain).
i.e. Van der Sar stays in his goals. Rooney took a shot at the goals
2 - He always seems as if he is on speed or coke. manic eyes, sweating, very aggressive and forceful with anything he feels he needs to say which inevitably then means he aggresively and forcefully breaches No1 hate. lol

I do believe that Gary Neville has got it correct. England are a good side and capable of winning games, just not championships. England have been poor as a team for the last few years, and Neville, who I have not been a big fan of a player, tells it how it is, god bless his little moustache.

That doesn't sound particularly negative to me. He's saying that the current spine of the team is not good enough to rival Spain, but he suggests that the team can be improved by introducing more mobile players such as Phil Jones, Tom Cleverley, Alex Chamberlain and Danny Welbeck.
I think he's right - we should be putting more faith in these less experienced players who are quick, unpredictable and good passers of the ball. It's the same as when Germany put faith in Muller, Boateng, Kroos, etc. The team needs reinventing.
