This is what I don't like. You can't just forget what he's doing to the club just because he got a good manager in. Odds are he went after the manager the fans wanted because he was under a lot of pressure and it would appease the fans while he continues to leech money out of the club and push forward with his pointless projects. It has done exactly that, everyone suddenly decides to believe the ****e he's been spouting that they wouldn't even think of entertaining before because they think "well he got Warnock in, he must have been serious when he said we've got ambition". One good act does not redeem him of the countless lies we've been told. He's only made a good decision because he knew it would keep the fans quiet for a little while and take the heat off. He's a manipulator and this is nothing more than another manipulation.

I agree with your point but I think you've underestimated the fans. I'm hoping the majority aren't going to fall for Mr Bates and his crooked ways.
 
I haven't underestimated the fans at all. It's all I've heard since Warnock got brought in. "Bates deserves credit for getting the right man" "get off bates back, lets get behind the team again". It's literally all I've heard. Everyone seems to have completely forgotten. I saw someone on a page on facebook trying to push a "lets fill up Elland Road for the Southampton match and get behind the team" front, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people bought into it. Everyone's been saying "forget this bates out stuff and lets support the team" since Warnock got brought in. Everyone who phoned in after saturday's game was saying the same thing. Not a single person pointed out the fact that we'd had to scrape a win at home against the bottom of the table because our team is just not good enough. I'm not expecting Warnock to work miracles and I still don't want to pay extortionate rates to watch a mid table squad struggle to compete while my money goes into some pointless project or basically anywhere other than the playing staff.
 
Look, the fact of the matter is that whether you like him or not, Bates has appointed a manager capable of getting us promoted. I'm not saying don't boycott the Southampton game, I'm not saying love Bates, nor am I suggesting everything is fine again.
BUT he has appointed a quality manager, so let's do Warnock a favour and get behind his team, even if you don't like Bates.
 
Spot on Kiwi. Time for some to suspend hostilities until we have a new reason to resurrect them. Warnock must be give a chance & the players must feel we are 100% behind them. Leave the Bates Out stuff for if/when things go pear-shaped. You never know. We mught just get promoted this season & then everything in the garden will be rosy.

Never suspend the hostilities, Never believe the Lies, Back the team not the Board. Seven years Bates has hold of this club and we haven't moved forward. 7 YEARS!

How some people can back this crook is beyond me. Warnock may have been many of the fans choice but Bates would not have broke the bank to get him. Warnock doesnt undo 7 years of hurt, lies & player sales. Not to mention losing ER & TA when we could have had it back for the price we are ploughing into our new stand & or Hotel. <grr>

I'm behind the team full stop. Will always be that way. Its Bates job to get a good manager in we are Leeds United FFS! One correct decision doesnt make me want to give him a slap on the back trust me.
 
Bucks, in 7 yrs we've gone from sliding down quicker than a whore's draws to financial stability with the team moving back in the right direction. We may not have liked Bates' methods or that he is still trying to build the ground before the team. But we're in a far better position now than we were when Ridsdale left & Bates eventually took charge. In the same way that it will take a while for the economy to take an upward turn, it has taken a while a few steps back for the club to finally be moving in the right direction. Sorry to say & regretfully Papa Smurf has to take some of the credit for this.

Are we though? You do not feel we have gone even further back? I mean Bates still took us down into the 1st Division, we still went into receivership he didn't save us, we went bust.
