Morning all, Leeds played in an all red strip in the early 70's, think it was Palace away. Very strange. Wouldn't happen now- hopefully!!!
Looks very strange indeed, makes me shudder watching that. Great goal though, nice to be reminded of what he was good at before he got his tongue stuck up Bates arse.
And I seem to recall Millwall wore an all-white kit around 1972- that wouldn't happen nowadays either!
I'm hearing Townsend called the club a "disgrace" after the Coventry game, wasn't happy so went back to spurs who are now loaning him to Birmingham. The good thing is the return of Delph and Townsend should fire up the Bates Out brigade again. Wasn't happy at how quickly everyone forgot about his lies after getting Warnock in.
**** him then He wont ever be good enough for Spurs. How's Keogh getting on for Millwall? I see he scored for you, so he may have one left in him for the season.
Possibly, he's going to get some stick for this and rightly so. That said, Townsend was signed before Howson was sold
Would he even get in the Birmingham team? I wouldnt be rocking the boat if I was Houghton there looking very good
I don't particularly like Bates, but seriously, people are treating this as a competition of sorts! We lose two half decent loan players but you're pleased because it'll mean people hate Bates again? Like the man or not, he's got in a good manager, with a proven track record.
This is true, but I understand what Marko is saying we shouldnt forget the long term future of our club because Bates got Warnock in (Grayson had a rushed financial package which probably helped us get Warnock) and is giving the kids a free shirt that we are unable to shift because they last about a month before falling appart! Warnock wanted the job as well & has taken it as a challenge because you can bet your arse he dont need the money!
Marko where you hearing that he called the club a disgrace? He played for Millwall, Watford and Ipswich before so doubt losing a game would make him say that.
Appreciate the long term future, but right now I'm just happy Bates has seen sense, and got in a good manager. That's a start as far as I'm concerned, and whether Warnock wanted it or not, I'm giving Bates credit where it's due on this one I don't particularly like him, but he may have just appointed the man we need to finally get out of this division!
I don't particularly like him either (or at least, I didn't), but he's just the man to give this club a kick up the arse. And whatever he's done or said in the past, it's obvious from his interviews so far that he is really passionate about this job. It's probably his last in football and he'll want to go out in a blaze of glory. He is Leeds United manager, end of.
What a difference a week makes. This time last week it looked like we'd be stuck with Redfearn till the end of the season. Now the mood's the most positive it's been on here for a year at least. Warnock's definitely the right choice. If anything's come out of this it's disproved the myth that Bates doesn't want promotion. Just wish he'd invest more of OUR money on the team. Can't trust him, can't understand the logic behind the ground development prioritising over team development. Just doesn't make sense. Why not build the team first & hotel complex second?
Townsend obviously thought that dropping a division gave him a god given right to start all games. Heard that Birmingham were after him??? Could he play for 3 clubs in one season?
Don't think so Elland, even via the loan system. There's also the question of where & whether he'd fit in to the Brum team. They seem to be doing quite nicely as it is.
