Personally can't see why anyone would back Thistlecrack at 5/4 in this race. Being objective, he's won three chases against handicappers off level weights. He's won as he should. He's hammered a middling World Hurdle generation last year over and over again. That's proven to me he's a top horse over hurdles but it doesn't tell me he should be the same price as the 7 time Grade one winning Chaser that's been targeted at this race all season. We've no idea what he does when his jumping is challenged. We've no idea how he copes when he runs against animals of similar ability. I'd back Thistlecrack at 3/1 but 5/4 is a joke.

We'll see if he really is the second coming of Pegasus tomorrow but on a price conversation you are simply mad to back Thistlecrack. Having said all that it's a terrible field and we're lucky they are both running otherwise we'd have a huge anti climax.

Funny race in a way , the small field can give a false pace , as Mick says could all fall apart and stayer like tea 4 2 -picks up the pieces , losses hill suspect stamina , conti is over the hill , so we left with the two big ones in the betting and Williams stable star ......The card has had plenty of issues on this course before , the thistle brings potential , but that was Coney the other year --and we all know what happened there ..........

Fully agree Bob, on all known form it should be around 1/2 CC and 5/2 Thistlecrack. Sure everyone wants a new superstar to emerge but I can't see the bookies taking much on Thistlecrack this morning he is too short. I expect some 2/1 by lunchtime.

The new one, cue card and identity thief in an unoriginal patent for me, also a small punt on stamp duty in the 2.35 Wolverhampton.

I am with Thistlecrack and Yanworth today, the former is special and the latter looks a good yardstick with novice form over these shorter trips.

Young Tom looks to have a good book of rides for NTD, that lad is going to be a star!!

Blaklion too in the big one at Wetherby. Pay pay pay.

Morning everyone.Good god today's racing post was some read on the throne this morning! Here are my selections
    Ltown
12.15- Mate of a mate got a tip from Ruby himself for Bunk off Early.Ruby hates punters though and young Joseph has a couple of nice sorts in there as well so a small/tentative wager 5/2
1.50-The grey haired one also gets a leg up on Daweran for the Elliot chap and I'm happy to take 5/1 on offer over the Gangsta Martin jolly. I'll have an Ew saver on Blast of Koeman at 12s
MRasen 2.15-Ping expected to ping his hurdles and win 7/2
Also on a tastey across the card treble with Allback Des Places, Bellshill & Jenkins to win 4/1.
Happy to watch proceedings in the old King George.I think TC will be too good for Cue Card and will win by over 5lts!Enjoy what for me is the best day of the year pilgrims!

I look forward to your excuses after the race. Let's not put Cue Card on a pedastool though, by suggesting Thistlecrack needs to be the 2nd coming of Pegasus to beat him. As we have seen Cue Card thrashed on more than 1 occasion by various oposition. Cue Card is a very good G1 chaser, who has and will continue to win his fair share of G1 chases. But there are always going to be horses better than him around, as his form throughout his career proves.

He's a horse not a machine he is entitled to a bad run very now and again. He has won five grade one's in just over a year. He has only been beaten after a long season last year and on his first start this season.

People seem to think Thisltecrack is the greatest chaser since Kauto Star just because he won a crap world hurdle easily. He has only beaten Marinero and a few other handicappers over fences. Lets not forget how bad his jumping was at Cheltenham.

Look Thisltecrack could be something from a different planet but on the form he has to date it takes a leap of faith to trust him at this level.

You clearly don't understand Shergar's record in these sort of coin flip races Doalittle. Do you realise how tricky it is picking 11/8 winners in 2 horse races ? Obviously not!

The man's a genius and he was such a good bookmaker he turned into a pro punter afterwards. Legend is too small a word.

    Ok through the card at Kempton with the ramblings of an old man;
12.55 JENKINS hoses up and the Irish realise they have nothing to touch him come March.
1.30 REMILUC lands a nice little punt for one of the smaller yards.
2.05 Backed Frodon at 4's but the more I look the more I like AMORE ALATO
2.40 THE NEW ONE, the best hurdler never to be champion makes every yard and wins from MTOY
3.15 Cue Card or THISTLECRACK I really don't mind they are both special but in this five runner affair I have been unable not to have a few quid ew on SILVINIACO CONTI at 33/1
3.45 MOSCATO with Aspell making it a long range double having won the opener at Towcester. ew saver on BIG CHIEF BENNY

Have a great Boxing Day people
