Well yes the Irish horses but also Native River, Clan Des Obeaux, Might Bite, Thistlecrack - the 4 who saw the arse end of BDM last season. Put a speedster in to disturb BDMs rhythm by lying up with him?
Kemboy would have been the obvious one but he’s out until the farce is sorted. Then apart from Al Boum Photo, I don’t see anything in Ireland that could do the treble. Delta Work was disappointing, Presenting Percy could be anywhere and in any state.
I actually think the Betfair Chase has a prestige issue and that is why there are so few entries this time around. It is not really up there with the King George and Cheltenham Gold Cup is it? Nicholls preferred to send CDO to Down Royal. Or is it fear of Haydock's stamina-sapping ground?
that’s the point though isn’t it, they could leave their season in the mud at Haydock and to do what they did last year but we aren’t going to get as good ground as we did last year and that will help BDM even more than last year. If the ground was better we’d have seen Might Bite I should think, but the others all in my book, have better targets
What is the latest with Presenting Percy any ideas? Don't remember seeing any news so far about him. I thought he had an awful preparation last year along with waiting patiently..trainers wanting to wrap them up in cotton wool to the detriment of their season. Will be interesting to see what happens with these two class acts this season. Presenting Percy could be back with a bang at any time....
There's talk of Percy being ready for the Durkan chase in 2-3 weeks time, needs to be seen to be believed though
0 for 2 today so just one more for me and it's a huge price. 6:45 Southwell - Contingency Fee 50/1 ew
Ireland vs Denmark tonight in a must win game for the boys in green. Bound to be a classic, Glenn Whelan sitting on his own centre halves toes for 90 mins plotting his way around like Pirlo in his pomp if the Danes go 1 up we are doomed. Ireland need to score first and hope it pans out well from there. Be nice to qualify as some of the games will be held in Dublin during the tournament itself.
