The fact that their 'moderators' even considered this motion is absolutely laughable! Most of their articles relate to Newcastle United in some sense, and to ban Newcastle United fans from commenting on threads that state 'Mag free' in the title is laughable!

Its a remarkable way to ruin a football forum, and I can guarantee that discussions with our other two moderators and theirs will begin, making this whole thing a farce. The whole moderation process is voluntary, and is there to keep an eye on things that are beyond a joke and are really way past the line. The moderation system is not there to be a Nazi style, to ban NUFC fans from their board is beyond a joke.

But, its rather typical of some members of their board and some members of this forum on the NUFC will know exactly what I mean. If they want to play childish games then let them be, we will NOT sink to their level!

SAFC fans are more than welcome to comment on this board, Sid is a regular poster over here and I respect his opinion, I love having discussions with you and you are more than welcome over here.

Their over the top reaction is the type that makes this forum a joke, and their stance certainly isn't what Mick had in mind and they have no justification for it whatsoever.

I'd agree - what's posted over there by mags is hardly WUMmery or provocative. It's best that the whole 'rival-free' thing doesn't get a look in - removes the banter and character from the rivalry on these forums in my opinion.

Totally agree. If their fans disagree with it, don't comment on it by just saying '**** off'. What image does that give this forum? They are bang out of order with this motion. Return of the BBC606 moderators!
 
**** them they can do what they want. They've got enough on their hands without having to be wound up on an internet forum. They're called SMB's for a reason.

As for 'Sid', he's a red and white but he's a true football fan. Say's it as it is and can give and take. Got no problem at all with people like him coming on to the board and talking football.
 
Although, I disagree with the 'mag free' content they are willing to bring to the site. I do not envy the position BB has found himself in.

It cannot, be a good situation.

But, just like in Parliament etc, if a number of people speak out about something. Then somethings have to be done in order to satifsy them.

Im sure within a week, this will all be forgotten.

If not, more fool the idiots who are so narrow minded that they cant even talk to Newcastle fans in a sensible manner.
 
The moderators have my sympathy.

They are only complying with the wishes of their members. From reading the boards last night I do not think that they themselves agree 100% with this course of action, but they have received complaints from their fellow mackems so they must try something.

These guys don't get paid for this hassle, they do it to help the forum, and cannot always please everybody.

The problem is that no-one wants the tight moderation of 606, however, this tight moderation allowed the banter to continue without idiots just telling each other to "**** off". We would all like relaxed moderation but I have found that this allows the more tribal and agressive posters to create a "them and us" atmosphere where you cannot have a light-hearted piss take out of your nearest rivals.

I write articles on here taking the piss out of, and laughing at the mackems. There is no malice intended and I do not wish to upset anyone. I can also appreciate when a Mackem writes a piss take out of us. But I have found it impossible to do this on their board. There are several decent guys over their (including all their mods), but as soon as a Newcastle fan dares to criticise their team or even "poke fun" at them, so many members spit their dummies out and instead of replying with a sharp or witty retort, they just hurl mindless abuse. Because of this, I actually enjoyed 606 more. AT LEAST THERE WAS BANTER!

Sorry for rambling a bit, cos all I really wanted to say was that we should cut Syd, Sid and the other mods a bit of slack because they have been placed in a difficult position and whatever they do or don't do, they will piss someone off.
 
There mods just can't make up decisions like this, it's not allowed is it?
