But as I said before there are about 6 pitches on there for Priory Wolves plus more arable land for more to Lowfield road , it’s green belt - it’s perfect already set up for footie . The flood work will prevent it ever being a problem as it’s designed to avoid flooding and not flood the pitches, there are major excavations to hold the water

Loving the transfer business and all that. Yeah great stuff.
But the priority now has to be an investment in our training facilities and getting a cat 1 academy. Or whatever they're called now. That's a real statement of intent for the long term.

Building work is taking place at the training ground, my brother's up from the Norwich area tomorrow in the corporate box of the builders, prawn sarnie tosser. I'll ask him what's going on there when I speak to him tomorrow.

I was at a Senior Tigers meeting yesterday. It was said that phase two of the stadium redevelopment would start soon, but didn’t say what that entailed. They also talked about developing the area next to the stadium where terracing from the original stadium is still visible.
So seems stuff is going on. Which is good.
I know the plan the club are keen on is to have everything localised around the stadium.
People say there isn't enough land for it. I say drop a bomb on that part of anlaby rerd.
There's at least a good square mile or two that would be no great loss if it was flattened and redeveloped. Most the landlords around there are probably in it for an insurance job anyway.
The 'development' or uncovering of what remains of the old Anlaby road ground is tied in with the clubs 120 year celebrations. I doubt very much if anything will be built on the site. I believe the Tigers Trust are behind the scheme. Personally I am pleased something to recognise the old place is being done because it is something I have been rattling on about for years.I hope recognising Boothferry Park is next with somethign more suitable and fitting then ridiculous street names like 'Black and Amber Way and Boothferry Halt'.
As for the 'Sports Village'. The club employed a consultant on a one year contract to look into the feasibility of the scheme and possible funding streams. I'm guessing that one year contract will be coming to an end shortly. Personally I don't think we will ever see anything built on Walton Street and it's the wrong site anyhow.
A seperate site, owned by the club, not rented, somewhere along the M62/A63 equal distance between Hull and Goole would be a better, and cheaper choice for me.
Can you really imagine a sporting village on Walton Street? Even the all weather pitch that is there now is unsuable and was torched last year, one of the sheds used for programme sales was being used as a toilet and someone was living rough in another one. Security would be a nightmare. Also any mention of moving the fair and the locals will have a lynch mob out for you.

. Good luck to them. I did speak and suggested this to one of the prominent members some years ago about this. Perhaps they were arleady on the scent, I don't know, but I am pleased they have taken up the chalise because what remains of the old site is worth saving and the short history of the ground is worthy of more recognition.
I still find it odd how the main stand was mysteriously burnt down and virtually everything the club owned was destroyed in the fire.
At the time there was concern that football was becoming too popular in the city and our crowds were a threat to a sport played only a few hundred yards away, across the road. Which was the reason we were told to sling our hook from the boulevard in the first place. Up to then we shared the ground with the Airlie Birds, but they pulled the plug on us when our crowds were bigger than theirs........
As others have said, I still think a new training complex west of the city would be miles better and easier. I understand the desire to extend the lease and develop the stadium and surroundings, but I think this football village idea isn't a particularly good one for lots of reasons.
There’s still 40 plus acres of land, formally The Lawns, up for sale in Cottingham. A few ****ty 1960s buildings need pulling down but that’s no loss.
I know they are but they are of little significance really. Accommodation blocks and a refectory is about it.
They're Grade 2 listed, they can't be pulled down and Melton is a far better option anyway.
Agree, Melton or somewhere in that area would be ideal given where most of the players commute from, availability of appropriate land, scope to build something fit for purpose without the restrictions which would come with a training complex situated around the stadium etc. Really don't get the logic of the current preference of a stadium based 'sports village'.
