God I hope not - we will hear that it's been coming for ages, haven't played well in a while, CP needs to do this, drop him for him etc etc.

Well we haven't played well in a while...so it's been coming.

I think we should sack CP and get Parky back before the game or else all is lost.

I do completely agree with you. Especially after those fortunate wins against the Sheff clubs.

Do you think Dowie will come and be D.O.F too?

    Your right and I apologise.

I didn't mean to get people's hopes up about the great dowie returning.

If we want to go for long term success rather than just a short term fix, I'd say bringing in Gary Megson would be the best option. My Wednesday mate tells me we should be able to get him by paying around £300,000,000 compensation to Sheffield Wednesday. Once thats sorted, bring back Miguel Llera so that we can stop winning games by luck and instead win by playing the best football in Europe. As a sign of our respect to King Megson we shall then proceed to boo Michael Morrison out of the team as he's rubbish, and hopefully the board will accept a new transfer policy which states that no players shall be signed who stand below 6 foot 6 in stature. I'm fed up of seeing all of these midgets trying to play the ball on the floor when quite clearly the ball belongs in the air.

Happy Valentines day boys (and gals?).

I have a new found optimism for the game and think we will win 2-0. A nice romantic scoreline.

Whahey! Lots of green stuff outside. A game to look forward to at long last. Should be a good un this! Enjoyed the MK Dons away match. Fair to say that, despite their managers ridiculous assertions about their capabilities, they are the best footballing side I've sen in this division so far except us when we play to feet. I've had a funny feeling this week that we are either going to give someone a right old drubbing soon or that someone is going to do it to us! Dunno why. Just a feeling. This one could go either way. Hope BWP is back. I quite like the idea of bWP and Haynes together as someone else mentioned but it won't happen. Think we'll just edge a cracking game. Hope so. Others around us will drop points tonight. This is a great chance to make a real break for it.

That BWP-Haynes combo was proposed by myself in the Chesterfield thread, so thank you ybabobmij :)

I think most of us on here would very much like to see that combination (especially considering MK Dons will be looking to out-do us in 'playing it on the floor') though as you say, the chance of us starting with that attacking two looks unlikely.

I feel a bit worried about this game, but thats always the case when we play our promotion rivals, hopefully we can repeat that great win at The Valley two seasons ago...may shut their manager up for once, though I presume he will blame the referee's, our tactics, injuries, postponements, the weather, a delayed coach, the quality of our PA system and inadequate pre-match meals, before insisting that his team play the best football in the division.

One possibility that no-one has touted here (and I am not necessarily recommending it myself) is that Haynes could start on the right-wing as Green only sparkles intermittently and Wagstaff seems to have lost his directness. Kermorgant would then play a little deeper.

Stephens went missing at their place and they overran our midfield in the first half. But now he has had his operation and two more weeks to get fit, and as the match is at home I would still start him.

It was Kermorgant coming on which saved us up there and I don't think CP will want to omit him this time. He has looked as if he needed a rest, it is true, but now he has had an enforced one. I am confident CP will play the same team as Bury, except for BWP's return.

    Charlton Athletic
    01 Hamer
    05 Morrison
    06 Taylor
    16 Wiggins
    20 Solly
    04 Jackson
    07 Green
    08 Stephens
    22 Hollands
    10 Wright-Phillips
    36 Kermorgant
    Substitutes
    13 Sullivan
    28 Cort
    18 Pritchard
    14 Haynes
    40 Clarke

Full strength side IMO, much as I love watching Pritchard play and much as I want to see haynes get 90 minutes.

MK Dons at full strength as well - gonna be a tough game.

Could be a bit quiet on here tonight - as long as it's noisy at The Valley.

Poignant piece on Pompey in the build-up on Five Live tonight and for a change, Steve Claridge said something really telling - " They spent seven years in the Premier Division and you look around here and you can't see any trace that it even happened - there's no legacy at all"

    Very, very, sad.
