View attachment 10514 vs Lets hope this game actually goes ahead! This Valentines day see's Mk Dons travel to South London to take on high flying Charlton Athletic at the Valley. Both teams fixtures were postponed at the weekend so its difficult to see who will be taking the momentum into this match. Charlton's last outing was at home to Bury in a 1-1 draw, whilst Mk Dons took a share of the spoils in their last game away to Huddersfield. The game earlier in the season was the first real test the new look Charlton side would face away from home and showed us all that this Charlton team never knows when it's beat. The result was a 1-1 draw but that doesn't tell the whole of the story. The Mk Dons were truely immense in the first half passing Charlton off the pitch. However they seemed to have no end product this was until Chris Solly brought down Dean Lewington in the box. Shaun Williams dispatched the penalty and the Dons led at the break. Charlton were much improved in the second half and started to create a few chances, however the Dons still looked incredibly dangerous on the break. The game was changed by two second half subs for Charlton as Green and Kermogant came on for Wagstaff and Hayes. Green whipped in a cross and Kermogant rose highest to head Charlton level. Mk Dons have been in league 1 since the 2008/09 season and have regulary finished near the top of the league reaching the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 seasons only to lose out in the semi-finals on both occasions. This season they currently sit 5th in the table with 49 points from 28 games. This being said their current form is not that of promotion candidates and they are looking for their first win since January the 2nd when they beat Colchester 1-0. I believe this game will be won by which ever team can dominate the midfield as both teams have incredible gifted central midfielders. Danny Hollands and Dale Stephens will have to be at their best to overcome a midfield pairing of Alan Smith and Stephen Gleeson and for me this will be the key battle of the night Charlton's Home Record - W8 D5 L0 GF28 GA9 PTS29 Mk Dons Away Record - W7 D4 L4 GF28 GA18 PTS25 Top Three Goalscorers- Charton Athletic - Mk Dons 14 Wright-Phillips - 9 Bowditch 7 Kermorgant - 9 MacDonald 6 Jackson - 7 Ibehre Last 5 Meetings - Mk Dons 1-1 Charlton 27/09/2011 Mk Dons 2-0 Charlton 08/03/2011 Mk Dons 1-2 Charlton 05/10/2010 Charlton 1-0 Mk Dons 28/09/2010 Mk Dons 0-1 Charlton 03/04/2010 My team to play against Mk Dons - Hamer Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins Green Hollands Stephens Jackson Wright-Phillips Kermogant Subs Sullivan Cort Pritchard Haynes Wagstaff The official on Tuesday night will be Keith Stroud who has took charge of 27 games this season showing 89 yellows and 3 reds We usually perform quite well against Mk Dons and add to that our unbeaten home record this season I believe we have enough to secure the win and seeing as were playing one of the better teams in the league I'm gonna go for 1-0 with a Jackson freekick!
It's funny- I'm more nervous about this game than I was with sheff united or 'udders. I think your main point about the midfield battle is spot on- I know a few on here wrote the signing of Smith off, but reports after the last game was that he is more than good enough for his league, and seemed to bring a greater threat to their side. Am I right in thinking balanta had gone back to his parent club? If so, that will be a loss to them, but think they still have enough to collect a point. 1-1
I know Kermo came on in the next game against Sheff Utd and scored and thats when he took over from Hayes I'm not sure about Green though.
2.1 to the addicks. More controversy off the field with yours truly already booked into the spare room.
A shake of the hands should help? Going to this game has cost me a diner at the oxo tower. I wouldn't mind, but the food is crazy over rated (and priced) there. Give me Bodeans any day of the week. And hooters.
superchrissy Oxotower are doing a deal with lastminute.com, might be worth having a little look on therem think it was a 3 course meal for £25 or something like that....still pricey but not as pricey. as for the game, really tough test but we seem to rise to the occasion, 2-1, stephens and a refreshed BWP, with moaning comments from Karl Robinson that they are the best team despite being 15 odd points behind us
MK Dons are the kind of opposition we liked to play earlier in the season - they will attack us, which makes for an open game. If we can get our passing back to how it was before Christmas then we should be capable of outplaying even the 'Barcelona' of League 1. 2-0 to Charlton, Stephens and BWP
Ah nice one block - will definitely give it a look! And tewkes- I hear he only attends after humiliating home defeats .
I'd like to see the Pritchard-Stephens combination given a chance in CM. Pritchard's duracell work-rate and Stephens' class might just be a perfect match.
IMO this is definitely a more difficult game than the Sheffield ones, more creativity, more fire power and an infinitely more enterprising (although rather irritating) manager. This isn't to say that we're not going to win it, but I'm guessing that it's going to be a close and very free-running game - going with 2-1 to us. Excellent signing of Smith, although he's only ever given glimpses of his true talent, even before the injury. Even though my tongue cleaves to the roof of my mouth to say it, I'd change Kermit for Haynes up front as speed along the floor may be of the essence for this one. If we want to go arial, he'd still be on the bench and the focus of the attack could be shifted in an instant. COYR!
