2 things struck me about Wednesdays game, firstly, how effective the long ball was, and the importance of Oli holding up the ball, which he scored from finally. All that passing about at the back seems to be a forgotten, thankfully.
It was just a big clearance by Ajayi really. Every team makes those when a cross like that mandates it. The crucial thing was that McBurnie was able to turn that into a counter attack with his excellent hold-up play, which we've really missed. And then obviously everything that came after was high quality too.

The big thing for me is that when we get into crossing positions now we're so much more effective. As GFAW described, McBurnie often does that dummy run followed by his real run, which seems simple enough but it's so much more effective than what we've seen in recent years. I remember being so frustrated at games over the last couple of years watching us get into good crossing positions but time after time have no one get anywhere near the cross. Defenders must be briefed on what McBurnie will do but they still can't stop it, which makes it even more satisfying I think.

I know Amin is just taking a piss but it is kind of funny we're only on track for 7 more goals than the "boring" Rosenior season.

I say only because you could compare it to the proper dour seasons under say, Pearson in 2010/11 where we scored 23 less than we're tracking for, or the following season half under Pearson and half under the exciting Barmby where we scored, erm, 28 less..also
also....7 doesn't sound many but we're talking a variance of c10% which is statistically really quite large....teams can go 7 games without scoring that many

Reactions: Chazz Rheinhold
Seems a bit too soon to be starting Millar tbh, let's hope he does the damage early and can come off before getting over tired, and risking injury
