More wild exaggeration.
Are there 10 million asylum seekers not granted leave to remain?
Only applicants not processed yet or those refused asylum are not allowed to work.
That's a few hundred thousand I ahould think.
Not 10 million.

The majority of that 10 million are here legally, and millions of them will be earning money and paying taxes.
Many of them likely working in the NHS and care sectors, doing jobs every day that would make you or me puke.

But hey, why not just lump them all together and say they are poncing off the Country.

PS:

This thread has been taken over by an invasion of fighting age migration related posts.
I'll deport them all to the the migrant crisis thread a bit later.
This toxic subject will not be allowed to pollute the rest of Not606 Charlton on my watch.

EDIT:

Posts moved.
The whole conversation has been moved here, as it would not be readable were some of the posts not directly referring to migrants been left where they were.
We covered this in full about two weeks ago and I thought you eventually agreed that having an extra 10 million people does make a difference. Or have you been back to the Havaianas store again ?

And no one has claimed that it is 10 million asylum seekers <doh>

Fact is, millions should never have been given leave to remain. Just because they are here legally doesn't mean they should be here.

We don't need foreigners to work the menial jobs when we have over a million youngsters claiming the dole. I know youngsters who would take on care work tomorrow, but that industry has been sewn up already.

There are certain ethnic groups who do very little other than take up housing, claim benefits and commit crimes. We don't need them and no one wants them. They are a drain on precious resources. They are taking the piss out of every taxpayer.

Tell me one benefit of importing people to sell the Big Issue?

I was shocked when I was back in Bromley in March, it's becoming the new Croydon.

It’s a big myth that British people won’t do the menial jobs.

Perpetrated by rich people who love having an endless supply of cheap foreign labour to do those jobs on less than minimum wage, living in a filthy room in a HMO, with no ties to the country and able to simply piss off whenever they get caught molesting a young girl or defrauding the tax and benefits systems. And it keeps the bleeding heart lefties all snug and warm in their beds, far away from the ensuing bedlam.

Still yet to find a leftie who will get them out of an HMO.

NOTE:
This post was originally made in the bad news thread, but the conversation was moved here because it immedkiately became about migrants.

Hosepipe ban just announced in Kent :emoticon-0145-shake
Paddling pools will have to be filled up with buckets of water.

We should be absolutely clear that it’s nothing to do with population increase at all. All those hundreds of thousands of new homes across the county aren’t connected to water supplies and therefore don’t add any extra pressure to demand.

None at all.

And as deaths exceed births it’s clear that this population increase is being driven by one factor and one factor alone….the smoking man is alive and the alien invasion of earth has begun.

It is not connected to immigration.

Not at all.

Around 35,000 new homes have been built in Kent since 2020.
That's fewer than 6,000 per year on average.

Meanwhile hot Summers and heatwaves - once unusual - have become yearly occurrences.
Hosepipe bans are a consequence of poor planning and poor running of our Water suppliers.
They have little to do with migration.

Further debate on migrants being the cause of this issue can be continued in the migrant crisis thread.
I'll move the conversation there if required.

I'm not a resident of Kent, but some fans are of course.
Fill your boots (and your pools) until 1st July then :emoticon-0157-sun:

So 35,000 new homes since 2020 (and I think that’s a very conservative estimate as they’re building over 7,000 per year net) and of course that’s only in the last 6 years or so - the problem’s been growing since further back then 2020.

And a 20+% increase in the population of Kent in the last 20 years (that’s roughly an extra 400,000 people).

Rather than those being examples that increasing population isn’t a problem I’d say that they actually indicate that it is the major contributor to water supply problems in the county.

A lot of the people moving to Kent & other places like it are coming from other parts of the UK.
They aren't all foreigners.
For decades now there has been a shift of young people from far off places where prospects are poor, to London & the South East.

All that should have been foreseen and planned for.
But the water companies didn't seem interested in anything except dumping untreated sewage & paying divvys & bonuses.

Once you understand that left wingers, by their nature, are always wrong, then you’ll see that there is actually no contradiction in your rule.
I'm a left winger, the boats need stopping, and overall immigration needs heavily reducing, am I wrong? :emoticon-0138-think
