Not sure but I don't think retrospective action can be taken on an incident the referee missed or failed to penalise at the time. There may now be exceptions to this rule, but I doubt if simulation is one of them.In which case - shouldn't How's on be punished for simulation?
I have to say, despite being indignant that it shouldn't have been a red card, I very much doubted it would be overturned so I am very pleased! Doesn't get us the 3 points that we looked on course to collect back unfortunately but at least we are not being further punished for the refs error.Red card overturned...!! And rightly so IMO.
Pity it cost us on Wednesday night.

Will we be told the particulars of why it was overturned? I would like to know the argument NCFC presented and the reasons the EFL gave for overturning it.
Probably not. The league is very reluctant to appear to publicly criticise referees. Also, if the club were to make their argument public it might lessen the chances of success in future appeals. The best evidence is in the video replays which show that Sainz got the ball and Howson then made contact with him, which could well have meant a yellow card for him and nothing for Borja. It's frustrating, but at least there is satisfaction in avoiding the 4 match ban when we're already missing Rowe and Hernandez. Howson's playacting to get another player sent off was disgraceful and he should be punished for that, but he won't be.
