They do still have live music, but nothing like it’s sounds it used to have in its heyday.
The upstairs is a function room for hire I think
I was good mates with the son of the landlord back in the mid to late seventies. The upstairs room was perfect for slide football in socks due to the polished wooden floor. Had lots of fun in that room belting a ball about. Good times.

Fond memories of the Duke of Cumberland. Worked in the lounge bar on Sat nights & upstairs Sunday nights from late '63 to mid '65. Live bands must have started later as it was DJ & juke-box music in a packed room on Sunday nights. Tips were excellent in those days. Had to be, otherwise they'd never get served !
Was last in there about 15 years ago - had changed a lot, but still decent venue for a bevvy (or two). Do they still put on live gigs anyone ?

I guess it was 65-66, wonderful times, City had a team to be proud of and the music scene was great, and we won the world cup

It was out of the Duke into Trees on the corner.

Brother had this as a double LP bootleg in 77.

When everyone else was out, used to put this track on crank the record player up to window rattling 11.

Sorted me out for about 72 hours just this one track..

Ronno was great and Bowie owes him an immense amount, but post Spiders Bowie was just as enjoyable.

Breakfast on the move
five minutes reserved for us
over dressed some would say
ties and stripes we wear today.
Dave and Mick in the buffet car
oblivious to all sat around
deep in conversation mode
the rest of the world can speed
along...

I see Bowie eating peas and gravy/veg stuff in this pic, not baked beans as part of a full English.

I don't see them catching the red eye no way,

(Could this be the inspiration or Station to Station?!?!)

No mate, he's quite right. Has anyone on here even heard of an album by Lou Reed, 'Transformer' and the massive influence Ronson had on there?

Transformer is a cracking record, no doubt, but for me, Bowie's best stuff came from 1976/77.

The Spiders years were superb, just not his peak for me.

Brilliant album Kemp’s, used to play it over and over back in the day.
