Indeed we have got a decent number of points and have been quite poor, so hopefully when things click we could pick up points where they might be unexpected (especially this season). My concern is we have picked up 11 points in 8 games but 7 of those were against teams in the middle - bottom of the league (outside top 6).
If we win against Leicester we will have a decent points tally a draw or a loss (unlikely) would put huge pressure on the team going into November and games against Everton, Arsenal & Man City.
IMO we threw point away against Southampton, Sunderland, Newcastle (that was a low point for me - no pun intended) and Stoke; no excuses those games were given away.
 
Agree Bob. I think we all agree that should we beat Leicester then we should have been on around 19 points after the first 10 games given the quality of the opposition in the games. The Leicester game is huge game.
 
It's amazing how some players can spurn the opportunities the Premier League can bring for their career, no bigger world platform can you get, going to be interesting seeing him return at the end of the season, my money is on him skulking off back to Spain, shame he was doing so well, and getting a call up for Spain, which is no small thing................<ok>
 
I just wonder if there are similar stories from other clubs? We have a history of players leaving then flopping elsewhere - many times more than those who go on to improve their career. Really don't know why.
 
True but in the lower leagues, it was some times understandable, but when your in the Premier league window, you become a house hold name, and in Michu's case he was an instant Premier league star, and given that backdrop, it's incredible how he has jeopardised everything for the politics at our club. If that was me, I would see the bigger picture, and clearly Amat has too. I have no animosity towards Michu, and I hope he can repair his career, but it is not looking good at the minute.................<ok>
 
No animosity from me either - mainly because of that fantastic first season. Disappointed is more accurate as far as I'm concerned. Michu was very dismissive of the Club and its fans on his departure regardless of the reasons for the loan move and nobody can say otherwise.
 
Agree, from all that I've heard he's basically snubbed us, and the fact he's said absolutely bugger all to the fans that were always very supportive of him, speaks volumes, whether he'll have a change of heart, we'll only see at the end of the season, not holding out much hope though..........<ok>
 
I think there's a few notable players that have left clubs for whatever reason (albeit, it's mostly for the money) and not performed when they got there. One of the biggest, for me, is Fernando Torres. He was on a path to Anfield Legend and got pulled South by Chelsea's money and did very little (comparatively) when he got there.
We've had a few here in Trundle, Leon, Andy Robinson, etc.

I think it's just the modern culture of football to chase the money. We've always said there's no such thing as loyalty in football. I suspect the days of Gerrard, Giggs, Lampard, etc. have gone.

I am aware that we have people like Garry Monk, Rangel and Williams who are setting a long term place in our history, but you could argue that they didn't have to move to find the next big challenge because the club kept improving and providing that next level. And when we faltered, all of those were linked with moves away as well.
 
We`ve been lucky how on our rise we had players in that have had the best season of their lives for us at crucial times then moved on with little detrimental effect on our march up the leagues. If someone wrote a plan for this from L4 to the prem at the start it would have been incredible foresight ! including the back room staffs commitment to the long term stability of our club.

Proud to have seen the Toshak teams rise and then rise to our current position, very lucky to be a jack in these times.

Michu served his purpose well as did a lot of others we let in here to improve our club and their careers and will be remembered fondly by most fans in years to come imo.

Little is heard of loyalty towards the player from a Club though , Davies didn't want to leave but was used a part of the package to bring Siggy here , great business by the Club but a move that could prevent Davies developing further due to lack of playing time .
