Great post Dai!..... and you have summed up most of the issues regarding supporting Monk, I haven't seen anything from him that has me worried, other than his subs being too late to be effective!.............
As many posters have stated they don't hate Monk, they just don't think he should be manager. I therefore propose we introduce the word TAMAM for this group of posters, which stands for Those Against Monk As Manager. Let's see what the membership of TAMAM is: post below if you want to be a member.
Well, all I can say is that's as one eyed as I have ever read. Enjoy the rest of the season from your armchair - I'll be pitch side shouting my support from pitch side.
Something Bob i have done for 57 years no more money from me going into football ...sorry like it's the principle of it and i still get to see every match...
Even that would be unfair - many who don't believe Monk is the messiah simply believe he's out of his depth and needs experienced support. But I am annoyed that we appointed a player who, reportedly and again, was at the centre of unrest on the training ground when we had Ronald Koeman check us out -not being wise in hind-site it was said at the time. There are obvious and major deficits in our play that are being replicated week after week and I for one am not enjoying our play.
And im sorry but monk has proved he is not out of his depth and doing better than most of the other premiership managers....fact here not fiction. manager of the month tells you he can do the job and do it well..
I haven't seen any evidence of that yet Bob, sorry, but maybe a tad naive which is to be expected at this level, Monk has to learn fast, and I'm sure we will see improvements pretty soon, or otherwise you could well be right...................
Nobody has said monk is the messiah either or that he is not learning. He admits himself that he is still learning as the season goes along. But that is not the issue here. So far he is proving to be a very capable manager who is giving everything he has into the job and last month was rightly awarded Manager of the month beating much more experienced managers. We have not been hammered in every game we have played and always give a good account of ourselves even though we have been put at a disadvantage through poor refereeing. Monk has been very impressive in his attitude towards the job and is the right person to keep us in the premiership...just think we could have had Harry kidnapped or a few others not as good as us as our manager.....I shudder to think what would happen to us then......
I disagree Dai, Monk is not proving to be a very capable manager. His team selection is interesting, his sub timings and selections are woeful however that is only my opinion
I think that Monk has shown some inexperience and naivety in making his subs late and reactively but maybe that's to be expected. He's probably wary of being too bold and taking the initialtive because if it backfires it's all on him, but sometimes you have to be a little more proactive imo. Had we been lower in the League that position may well have forced his hand so in a way he's perhaps been a victim of his own success in August in not wanting to lose what he's achieved. No disrespects but the Premiership is a tough place to learn your trade and it's a big ask.
A big ask yes to which he has exceeded all expectations and needs fans support and acknowledgement that he is doing a grand job. he is learning fast and the support he is receiving from inside and on the terraces at the liberty is plain for all to see, there has not been a single bad article from professionals written anywhere saying monk is doing a rubbish job and nothing but praise saying what a tremendous job he is doing, So where some of you are coming from just dont add up with anyone...
I dont think Monk is in over his head , he is treading water though. The Leicester game is huge for him though. It reminds a bit of Ferguson doing not very good in the early days of Man U,on the verge of being shown the door and he won the FA CUP (I think ) to give him some breathing room and the rest is history. If Monk can win this game maybe it gets him over the hump.....hopefully.Needs a convincing win tomorrow.
