great manager that we should take advantage of until he is poached by real Madrid in the summer...I think we will get someone of substance to take over when he does go.
And his achievements have been noted by Real's fanbase, who voted him in third place as possible successor to Jose Mourinho, after Rafa Benitez and Joachim Low. Laudrup, having had managerial spells in La Liga with Getafe and Real Mallorca, said: "I am happy now. When somebody talks well about you it is nice, but remember I played there and have a lot of friends there." Not only has he guided the Welsh outfit to a string of impressive results at, the manner in which Laudrup has built a strong team, bringing in the likes of Michu, Chico Flores, Jonathan De Guzman and Pablo Hernandez, has caught the eye of the footballing world. Michu has scored 13 times in the top flight, while De Guzman has three goals and four assists. Laudrup mentioned the freedom in the transfer market as a key factor as to why he enjoys coaching in England, and the evidence of his success can be seen in the way both Michu and De Guzman have fared under his guidance. "It is different over here because the managers here have a lot more influence on who is coming and going," he said. "I prefer that because it is my responsibility because if things are not going well I am the one being sacked. "That is why the manager should have some influence on who is coming and who is going instead of just being the trainer of the team and another person sitting behind a desk can buy and sell players." May be ,maybe not,
I consider it an absolute certainty that he will stay in Swansea for the rest of his contract no matter which club will try an get him unless he falls out with the board which nothing suggest he will.
not if real madrid want him. would you? Any manager would jump at the chance of managing one of the best clubs in the world...He would never turn down the chance in a million years...we could get mourinho instead in a straight swap..
I saw somewhere today that the swans don't sack managers we sell them I think Real Madrid would be no different should they want Laudrup before his contract is up. I hope Huw has it mind to extent his contract by the end of the season though, not that it means anything to a determined club, but it will give us a larger fee if he goes.
I know it's been quite depressing sometimes with the manager turn over but lets enjoy the moment before he goes eh
exactly....he wont turn down real madrid if he is offered and there is a very good chance...if toshack can do it laudrup can and with only 1 year left on his contract then we will get next to nothing..Im not going to fret about it like i didn't when Martinez, Sousa and Brendan left. Im use to it with the years i have been at the club. If he decides to leave then good luck to him and we move on to the next manager...no problem..
Judging by what alot of Danes have said about Laudrup it seems he is the type to stick to contracts, im guessing that he probably will not extend his contract but wait till it runs out then look at his options. Maybe he enjoys the job at Swansea and will want to stay a bit longer, he has had pressure at the top end of the game for 20yrs so the need to manage at that level is not as appealing to him as it would be to others(his words not mine). It has also been said that he is enjoying the freedom of being able to stamp his own authority on a team with zero interfeirence from anyone else, something that Laudrup is very fussy about. The flip side is that Laudrup is a sportsman and was one of the best as a player, that competitive nature is bound to re-surface at some point and need to test yourself at the very top will IMO come calling for him again some day. Its very difficult to work out what this man will want to do, he has also said that he doesnt see himself in the game in 10yrs time, i think this bloke is unique in alot of ways. I know for a fact both laudrup and larsen were absolutly desperate to do well here and show to everyone what they could do when given the chance to have total control of a clubs playing staff, this seems to be something that Laudrup is enjoying immensely and for the first time in his mangerial career he is planning his own path, he may well wish to see how far he can take us,and if it goes well and he is enjoying his time he may fancy 2-3 yrs extra. If his family are happy here and Laudrup is happy here then i see him staying for about 3yrs, regardless of who comes calling, if he starts to get frustrated with us selling off his best players then he may just stay to the end of his contract and decide to do something else, his reputation would have been repaired in many peoples eyes anyway. We should enjoy his fresh and honest approach and be happy that we have a manager that has raised our profile even further these last months, if he goes onto better things then i will wish him all the best, he has given us nothing but honesty, dignity, class, fantastic signings and great coaching ability. Whoever comes next will be a hard act to follow! we did say the same about Martinez,Sousa and Brenden Rodgers though...
If we can win the capital one cup, and get into Europe, then there is his future task. Keep Swansea growing, would do much more for his image than managing an already established big club.
"Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins is confident manager Michael Laudrup will stay at the Liberty Stadium until the end of his contract. Jenkins' comments come after Laudrup featured in the top three in a poll of managers Real Madrid fans would like to take over from Jose Mourinho. "He's doing very well this season, I fully expect him to be with us and see through his contract with us," he said." http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/wales/21021063
Laudrup has turned down a lot of offers before he came to Swansea. He has a lot of bad experiences with the board in previous clubs and it seems like he values the relationship to the board very highly (above everything else I would say). If he got an offer from Madrid I don't think he'd jump at it with no questions asked. It's clear that him and Jenkins is a match made in heaven and with Laudrups previous bad experiences I think he values this highly and knows that it's not something he can ever take for granted.
Is this the same jenkins that said Brendan had not be approached and is staying and the very next day he was liverpool manager..
there is no vacancy until the special one leaves.. Suppose to be at the end of the season so no worries till then but if offered real madrid or swansea city then its no brainer he will be speaking spanish before we know it..ole..
He speaks Spanish every day Dai !! I dont think he will go in the summer as long as we dont sell on too many players, as he said himself there are only a few clubs who can afford Michu and this is the first time Laudrup has been allowed to build something of his own at one of the worlds top leagues. Never say never in football of course but we should not even go there right now, we should as Bony said enjoy every moment and make the most of whats happening with our team! how far this club will go i dont know but its the most exciting time to be a Swans fan..EVER !!
As long as the board stick with any promises made I dont think ML will leave this summer. He is a stickler for contracts, as history shows (ala Liverpool changing their terms last minute before he signed for them). Whether HJ can get him to extend beyond the 2 years is a different matter though!
