So Merc are bringing a new part or parts to Miami this week, hoping it will confirm they are on the right track.
Mercedes aiming to bring upgrades for Miami race to help car issues - BBC Sport

If I was Lewis, I would be very philosophical about this season. An opportunity to be less in the lime light, have a different challenge, he could see it as fun, not a downer. .

Bar the bouncing giving him early onset whatever sure why not.

If the car is 3rd best fine but a stable platform is a must for having fun surely?

I don’t think Elliott will be at the club that long to be honest with Carvalho coming in. In his last 2 appearances I’ve seen , including the Carabao cup final, he contributed next to nothing

Firmino as a forward needs to be replaced and We need another top class goal scorer

Merc need to start from scratch. When your design is basically crap, which it is, won’t changing just the floor have a detrimental effect on the downforce of the bodywork unless you’re changing the floor and the bodywork?

Wolff is adamant they'll fix it and all will be well but I suppose he has to say that

It's stiffness that's the issue with porpoising but I think they have it fundamentally wrong as their floor starts much later than the red bull one.

They can stiffen it I guess by adding weight quickly.

Fun as in something different. Challenges can be fun in that they give you a sense of achievement if you succeed. Lewis has a different challenge to his normal. Exercise a different part of his brain. I think, in all work, no matter what you do, a challenge can draw out another side, you learn more about what you do and who you are. If Lewis contributes to the development of the car and in the next 2 years revitalises his ability to win races as a result, how satifisfying would that 8th title be. Massive.

OOOPS

Toto's comments about any upgrades being trial and error is a bit worrying for Merc. Really sounds like they are fumbling around in the dark.

Surely the solution is pretty straightforward...just copy the RBR floor and be done. :p

Seriously though, if they don't start making some steps forward soon, the only way they're going is backwards!

If they copy the red bull floor, then the no sidepod bodywork will have to go as well.

to be fair, they seem to be potentially getting to grips with their concept but still lots to prove before we confirm that <ok>
