I undestand different generations use different words - bad and sick do not mean what they did. Our generation saw gay and other words used for alternative meanings.
That was not the point I was making. I do not tell my children off for their different use of language - it is good. Equally they might be more tolerant of older people using words they always have. I am happy to say Chinese now if it causes offense to younger people to use "that other word".
My woke comment was mainly directed to Perryman's comments - the Chinese was just an illustration of how people now think they can tell others what to say - and think? George Orwell foretold it in 1984.
I would never use thought word or deed to deliberately hurt any sentient being - a concept of "ahimsa" I learnt doing yoga when I was young. But older people especially find they get out of step wth the modern world so easily. We lived in a world where "sticks and stones can break your bones but names could never hurt you" I don't fully support that but a lot of younger people especially seem to have developed a super sensitive ego.
Maybe it is just my depression speaking but I honestly will be happy when I am no longer around. Every day is a massive struggle and I am just too tired. Christmas and the like just seem to make it worse not better.
Sorry though if I offended you
