Wonderful reminder of the sire - the late great Montjeu.
He has now sired a Breeders Cup turf and Melbourne Cup winner in just over a year- a fitting tribute.
Barriers haven't played a significant role in the past 30 years. Barriers 1-8 have provided 10 winners, barriers 9-16 have provided 12 winners and barriers 17-24 have provided eight winners.
I ran away for a few minutes and when I returned Cumani's daughter was saying something about her dad. Did she say that after today's race, he'll not be back?

Fantastic effort Toppy. Congrats mate.
Big job by Jeff who got Jakkalberry into third at cricket score odds.
what a shout.I put Jakkalberry up a while ago, I reckon at 60/1 he is very good value each way
Right guys, simply cannot be overlooking GREEN MOON for the Melbourne Cup. His comeback run after 400 odd days out was beautiful over 7f, and he then ran a couple of crackers to head to the Cox Plate as favourite. He was badly outpaced that day and kept on to make steady late headway. I think he is the one who will be steaming home late and if he has a trouble-free passage he is the horse for me. Nicely weighted- very live outsider.
16/1 thanks very much.
I do love a Montjeu as well when it comes to staying a trip run at good pace.
