A lot of them were older. And by that I mean a lot older than me. Apart from it being more expensive there is the question of getting to the ground and back. If you have difficulty walking there is no guarantee a bus will get you to the station in time. As you know, I can’t walk far and would have missed that train loads of times (if I hadn’t taken the sensible option of going in Parkers until the queues disappeared). The only way would be to join the exodus of people leaving early whether we are winning, losing or drawing as they have to get all the way across Hull and their lass has told them to be back for their tea on time or else. Most of those were the sort who would never leave early.
Been on that bus on the odd occasion for midweek games, you had to ring up and see if someone had cancelled as it was normally full. Good bunch of people on it, used to pick up in Bedford and other places.
A neighbour of my dad’s used to go on it going back decades. Hadn’t seen him for years but last time I went on it him and his mate, both in their 80s were there.
Not disputing the calibre of the fans who used to come from out of town on the bus and it's just a shame the demand for one dropped off. A bus still picks up in the East Riding villages and returns on matchdays. I suppose that service too would be pulled if the demand waned and it no longer paid for itself.
Also a little known fact about the KC. There is a free shuttle service bus that parks up just inside the gates to the KC from Anlaby Road which takes those who find it difficult in walking as close to the perimeter of the stadium as they can. It returns after the game. Several disabled fans park up near where the bus parks up. I know because I drove it for a while.

" I 'ate yer, get that bus out Clarky"

It didn't last long, first of all you miss out on the pre match beer and I had to leave before the final whistle to get the bus ready. But it is a little known service which some of the regulars totally relied on, but not for me. Last I heard the bus was being driven by a Hull Red. He doesn't mind missing seeing 'his' team play.

In my case ureka peece I would have to also get a taxi from station to the kcom and from k com and back to the train station

Worked out £60+ a home game

If health had been a touch better I may have considered it at times

Iv done it many times when younger even on the East Yorkshire bus that took hours

Most of the folk on the bus from Filey were older and less able then me

A number of the grandads drifted away with the price increase and also stopped taking a grandson or 2 with the increased ticket prices

For me going to Scarborough was a simple 10 min drive to the ground and 10 mins back and £12 at the turnstiles

I did not think I would enjoy going as much as I did but the standing were you want...the noise...the atmosphere .. the fans all United together got me hooked much to my suprise . It's like the old days at BP with home and away fans standing next to each other

If the coach still ran and the prices hadn't increased everyone who use to go to city still would go and I would never have dreamed of going to watch Scarborough play

I now own 1 share in the club
No one can own more then one share even the chairman.

Everything gets voted on by the fans

At the next meeting I may try to change the name from Scarborough Athletic to Scarborough deckchairs and the club badge to a stick of rock...as for kids under 11 being let in for free that's bloody stupid

:-)

We lost ....our 4th defeat in a row

We had 15 shots.
Lancaster had 1 shot.

Same old story we just can't score

To much passing about

We play good football...but by the time the ball is in the penalty area so are 8 or 9 defenders and most shots just get blocked by a sea of legs including our own players getting in the way

Scarborough need to go back to playing hoof ball like most teams do in this league

This style off footy doesn't work

Coulson and walshaw our usual front 2 were leading goalscorers last season and the season before

But do no good with our managers style of pretty football .

Still I had a good day as usual.

1,057 at the game

About 60 away fans who where very vocal and it nearly kicked of until loads of cops turned up

Witton Albion away on the 23 Nov

Whitby Town at home sat 30th of Nov

We all hate Whitby

Grrrr

That's 6 games in a row we have lost ...we got beat 5-1 against dunston last Tuesday in the league cup ....Dunston play in the league below us and are near the bottom .

Same old story we can't bloody score and it's been the same all season

John Deacey has got Scarborough playing pass pass pass side ways pass backwards football and is sticking with it

We finally get near their goal and everyone is in the box and all shots are deflected away

Deacey out is the most popular chant .

Long ball works best in this league.
A tall centre half and a tall target man

Tuesday 26th we play a village team at home in the north riding cup

Scarborough v Staithes if we lose the **** will hit the fan

Then Saturday we play hated our arch rivals

Scarborough v Whitby Town

I will be at both games win draw or lose

A few more defeats and John Deacey must lose his job.

Imo

League Table

Still it's not the result that matters the most to me , getting to home games is a huge victory what ever the score
