A chairman wouldn't give a manager a 'vote of confidence' if all was well would he, shows he's worried.

But it's also ridiculous that time and again chairmen come out in the press and say that the manager has the board's full confidence and backing despite recent results. Then they sack him a couple of days later

Reading the story, it seems that the vote of confidence from the chairman was only yesterday. <laugh>

His recent results have been poor, but they're still fifth in the league and they're only six points off leaders PSV.

I didn't realise the vote of confidence was that recent.

Their position isn't that bad at all. Have the Venky's taken over Twente by any chance?

Despite their league position, they haven't won a game for two months, I assume they must have started the season very well, because their first home defeat of the season was only two weeks ago and their stats for the season so far are P/24 W/12 D/8 L/4.

They have only lost twice in that 2 months and have drawn the rest. Seems a strange decision to me

They're a big Dutch outfit, like a Liverpool/arsenal type, not winning games they really should be winning for awhile. A few of my accumulators have gone tits up on them when they're like 1/8 (in Barcelona terms I bet they'd be at 1/8 at home to villa).

Steve McLaren is a credit to himself and HCFC (the club that produced him).

Shame we have had so few youngsters at City who have achieved anything like what he has in the game.

Reading this thread,it's just struck me that had Bullshit or Eric been the board at City, every manager would get the vote of confidence before their first game in charge, and then be sacked after the first defeat <laugh>
