They've finally sacked him. Took them ages to do it. Everyone knew it was coming. Not handled especially well by Ashley but what do you expect!
Their next game is against us.. think it'll make them trickier opponents? Their good-on-paper team may pick up their game a bit now... Monday night's game will be interesting. ..

Yep Newcastle

yep the way Newcastle have handled the whole situation is appalling but what you would expect from Mike Ashley.
Whoever takes charge on Monday will struggle to improve them hugely tactically wise but for sure they will all be putting that extra effort in

Rafa is a great long term appointment for Newcastle but I worry if he is the man to save them short term. IMO they needed someone like a Di Canio to go and make a short term impact and then in the summer get someone in like Rafa to rebuild the club

Rafa is hardly going to stick around if they go down. Nigel Pearson would have been a good appointment aswell as he would have stuck with them either way

I believe he has a clause in his contract if they go down.

Thats my point, I can't see him being able to get them up for a short term target, they needed someone just to create a mentality rather then tactics.

NP would have been able to do both as proven here last season, Di Canio would have created a short term mentality but long term he wouldn't have been the answer

NP could have been the long term answer for them even if they stay up or go down

I think NP would have been the best.
a) having already saved one club he could save another
b) if they go down has already had one club promoted could do it again.

Cannot see rafa sticking around if they got relegated.

It must be me, but I have never rated Rafa he spent a lot of money and filled the Liverpool team with Spanish players and was very lucky
to win the EC 3-0 down at half time! think it was the player's that won it. wonder what would have been said if Liverpool was 3-0 up and lost it.
To me he has always been overrated!

Real Madrid to Newcastle .... you feeling alright Rafa? ....

Must be one hell of a payday if he does keep them up, and unfortunatly, i can see it happening. Would loved to have seen a team that has spent £80m go down, would be another big statement to clubs about finances.
