But you were getting indignant about a chant that didn't happen. Anything else that hasn't happened upset you recently?
Fair enough, you'd quoted my reply to your point about the chant that never happened, I didn't realise you had only cut some of my other points out in your reply. In that case then I was 'playing it down' because I didn't think it was a big deal really, certainly not something that I feel the club should be embarrassed about. In fact if anything it was a good example of how football, and City fans in particular, have moved on and improved. A tasteless chant started by an incredibly small group and was self policed by the fans in that area who chose not to join in ( and one or two who, from memory, called it out as **** at the time) Quite progressive really
It was the point you were making though. You were calling people out on here for thinking an imaginary chant was 'bantz' (whatever that means)
I agree with you there, things are certainly changing for the better, the fact some of our own fans called them out on it is a step in the right direction. The same happened in Lokeren when some idiots started chanting about WW2, it was quickly shut down by the people around them. I wonder if its a sign of the shifting demographic at football games that these incidents are becoming increasingly rare.
Possibly, although a lot of the people in that area at the time (both games actually) had been around a long time Society has changed dramatically though anyway so even old dogs have either learned new tricks or have at least decided to hide their old ones
Airlie proclaims sectarian chanting in Scottish football is no worse than what he's seen in Premier League games. He offered a single incident of a Nazi salute & a single incident of monkey chanting as evidence. Although he didn't actually see the incidents & the monkey chant wasn't at a Premier League game. A google search of sectarian incidents involving just Celtic brings up a list as long as your arm. Their incidents don't get dealt with & there's never any real & concerted effort to put an end to them. It's not just Celtic though, many Scottish clubs have similar Club lead problems. Scottish football is blighted by bigoted, multi-generation, Neanderthal scum ****s and will continue to be as inbred hatred is part of their acceptable popular culture. When was the last time the FA Cup final had an ending like last season's Scottish Cup Final? Scum. The EPL has very few incidents & when they occur the culprits are dealt with accordingly. To suggest the EPL is on par with Scotland when it comes to racist chants & hatred is ludicrous, blinkered & ignorant.
I recall in the later days of Kempton when a few wingnuts often used to start up a No Surrender to the IRA chant. They were always booed out by the massed throng before they reached the chorus, although I imagined that they were too thick/deaf to notice. A rare occurrence of acceptable booing at a football match.
the last time i heard any racism at a city game was against oldham in league one when a solitary guy was shouting " just a town full of p****" you can never discount for the lone wolves

Yes, we should let people spout complete crap, which a 10 year old would know was crap, and not point it out.
No one mentioned that. Just the poster's, one who considers himself a bit of an intellectual, lack of knowledge of basic maths or logic.
