Tbh on Leicester fans part, it isn't arrogance, its optimism <laugh>

It's an equation of Good Manager + Unlimited Resources + Chairmans immediate ambitions = Top 6 finish at least.
Its been a long time since we have had this combination, and with the Boards intentions on "Promotion this year" we haveto have high hopes :)
 
Lets not forget he has one year left on his contract. Whether they paid £2m+ for him makes no difference, they will not get any fee from him this time next year when he leaves on a free. Lets face it most up and coming players very rarely sign extension contracts with a year left on their contract as they know they can secure a a big contract for themselves without a transfer fee involved. Even if Bristol City did get into the Premier League the chances are he will be off.

He wont got to you, its just a sideways step and there are far better options for him out there, I have a feeling he may move on, he might even go to a champ club.

Our stadium is being upgraded to 45000. Also 2 massive teles have just been put in. Take note bristol fans Schmiechel has 1 year left on his contract and we are getting him on the cheap. Same will happen with Maynard

Please at least attempt to formulate a logical argument. I can easily say that Maynard will sign because you&#8217;re a rubbish club. But its just an empty sentence without being backed up.

This is not arrogance at all, but simply a list of facts (as they stand) which help sway our argument that Maynard would consider Leicester:

1) Richer club &#8211; unlimited funds for Sven
2) Greater chance of promotion &#8211; Bookies put us down as second favourites to win the league outright. Bristol are 10th
3) Our stadium is on the upgrade &#8211; Ashton Gate is simply joining us in the 21st century
4) Greater pulling power of players &#8211; we have just taken Kasper off Leeds (their number 1) with only one year left on his contract for a bargain price. His wages will be high no doubt.
5) Ambition: we have paid Real Madrid £1 million pounds to play a pre-season friendly against us in July. Who do BC take on in their pre-season?

I shall reiterate this is not arrogance &#8211; simply optimism based on FACTS. Now im happy to entertain your argument that Maynard will stay at Ashton but please back up the argument &#8211; not simply a moronic &#8216;he defo wont go to you guys&#8217;!
 
This rumour will only die if he commits to your club with a contract extension ... why has he not signed one yet ... does he not have a pen?

I agree with the first part of your statement but if you are serious when you say we are only slightly bigger than the blue few then it shows your ignorance and lack of understanding about football down these parts. Comparing yourselves with Man U compounds your lack of understanding about football in general.

For what it's worth then I think unless you come in with a sizeable offer - 3/4m (with add ons) then he'll be going nowhere soon. That could all change if you get off to a bad start and have to throw money at it in January (if someone hasn't beaten you to him by then)

My take on the situation is Leicester will have no chance of signing him for less than 6 million if he signs a new contract (emphasis on the word IF). If he doesnt and Maynard says he wants out I think they will sell for around 3.5 - 4mill as will he alone get us to the prem this season - No is the honest answer. Maynard is a superb player and the noises coming from the club is he will sign, he is on holiday at the moment so this will not be resolved for the next 10 or so days. To say he will go for 2 million is plain ludicrous - there is no way on earth that he will go for that, they would let him leave for nowt at end of season rather than taking that imo.

Regardles of "my club is bigger than yours" the bottom line is Leicester will finish a lot higher than us his season and will definitely be in the top 6 and possibly the top 2. They are a better proposition than us to get to the prem by the end of this season, but to think he will leave just for a few more quid I disagree with. When he signed for us he brought his mum with him, he's a very down to earth bloke whos head wont be turned as easily as most players - not saying it can't but I do think he will only go to a prem club before the start of the season. Allegedly he is on about 12k per week, obviously if he did sign a new contract that would be higher.

I still think he will sign a new deal with us, with a "if we dont go up this year you can leave for a prem club". Only time will tell, have a good season foxes except for the couple of games against us, when Maynard scores against you :-)

A pretty clueless post imo, training ground (new), stadium (on its way), fan base (if we did get to the prem would be a sellout), ambition and money (only worth half a billion). Then you think you are the man u of the championship - oh dear. Apart from this post there is some decent ones on here!!!

This guy makes sense <ok> you don't need the money paricularly, it would have to be a high bid, maybe somewhere between 3-4m if he decides not to extend his contract, but i can't see us forking out more than that, and if he does sign a new contract with City, then i think we will move on rather than keep upping the price into the 5-6m figures.

p.s. we will let you keep him as long as he doesnt score against us next season :p
 
Doesnt matter if your training is new it depends on how good it is. You cant say stadium on the way as Plymouth can say the same thing but at this rate they will go out of business before then. You ground is small so you should get sell outs in the prem, but saying that you have to get there. You ambition isnt a great as ours. You chairman may have a bit of money but he doesnt put it in the club.

Now the ball is in Nicky Maynard court. We can go on and on about the 2 clubs but if Nicky wants to stay at Bristol, he will sign a new contract. If he wants to sign for us he will hand in a transfer request
 
It's a bit pathetic to be taking about which club is bigger than the other and to say things like, "We (Leicester) can triple his wages if we like" - tad arrogant is that. The fact is that Leicester would be considered to be a bigger club than Bristol City BUT that doesnt mean a great deal at all if Maynard considers Bristol C to be going places. If we want Maynard we have to test Bristol City's resolve and tempt the player over but if his chairman is ambitious Maynard may simply renegotiate his contract now.

The training facilities are apparently superb (I havent used them though), the new ground maybe started in the autumn (not sure what plymouth going out of business has to do with anything), ground is small but I was referring to sellouts in the prem with a new stadium - we wont be there before this is completed anyway as we are not good enough, chairman has built great foundations for the club rather than getting into massive debt and the risk of admin/going out of business. To say he doesnt put money in is just a pure guess unless you have some facts. If you think just because hes worth 500mill+ he should just chuck in 100/200 million to get us to the prem is just stupid, hes a businessman and risks are calculated. Why would anyone want a chairman who throws money around like confetti and when he loses interest he ups sticks leaving a club in a right mess. Would rather get to the prem with all the right infrastructure and a sound business plan rather than do a leeds.

I am not having a dig at Leicester at all, and wish you all success but just because your 'man' has a lot of money and is throwing it around at the moment I wouldn't be so confident of being a great established club in the prem in 10 years time - he maybe gone and left a trail of debt if hes had enough. Good luck next season anyway and for the future
 
If we are to sign him I think we need to get on with it, all this messing about trying to get him cheap is a good idea in theory but if the Prem teams start to show an interest we'll be scuppered. Need to move swiftly and put in a serious bid.
 
I think it's a bit pointless to points score like this but here goes anyway;

The Raksriaksorn's company is worth £4 billion. They also have a sound business plan which isn't based on selling the club to recoup revenue. Rather, they intend to use LCFC as a vehicle to further retail profits, which is how they made their money in the first place. They are going to do this by investing in the stadium to make it into a leisure and retail venture which will generate profit all week long rather than on match days. They are already selling LCFC merchandise in Thailand, including at Bangkok Airport, which has 4 million people a year passing through it. If and when LCFC are in the Premier League, they will market the LCFC brand to the whole of the far east.

A huge gesture of the importance of the LCFC to King Power is that they have appointed the CEO of King Power as CEO of LCFC. Susan Whelan was instrumental in the recent success of King Power and is probably their biggest statement of intent.

For the record, I don't think we will sign Maynard. But I'm sure you can see why LCFC fans are excited after many, many lean years.

3) Stadium on the upgrade -- we are just about to start building a £97 million pound state of the art stadium, yours is obviously getting shoddy (hence the upgrade)

4) greater pulling power -- yeah, just listened to a debate about that on talksport, they think the same about you as I do. perhaps in your little leicestershire bubble you are a big club, but I'm afraid in the real world, unfortunately not!

5) Ambition -- You are more ambitious than us because you paid £1m to play Real Madrid in a friendly <laugh><laugh><laugh> You really need to have a think about that.

Oh dear

He won't go to us? You his agent? No, you're not, and you are just repeating yourselves. You obviously don't think he's going to come to us (or are desperately in denial). But telling us over and over again does not make it anymore true.

We have the money to spend, as I've said it's all about whether we are willing to spend it or not. You know bugger all so stop trying to make out you know what's going to happend.

1) You're owner being richer doesn't make your club richer. We'll see how much you spend.

2) You finished way down the table last season, will probably lose your best player (whether it's to us or someone else) and won't attract many decent players.The bookies are rarely wrong and if you weren't so biased you'd realise they have a point as things stand.

3) You will never fill your new Stadium, Premiership or not. Jokes on you <laugh>

4) Blimey talksport. Why didn't you say that in the first place, I'd have given up then and there.

5) Everyone's got ambition. We've got more chance of fulfilling it than you do though.

It doesn't matter what you think, and all these things are largely irrelevant. You have no idea whether Maynard will sign for us or not, but you do know we are a bigger Club than you with more potential. You just won't admit it cos you're angry about potentially losing Maynard <ok>
