A lot of what I've seen and read is not a lot different from how I felt as a lower league supporter regarding the Premier League. I know the PL is not in it's own right a closed shop, because it allows promotion and relegation, but financially it is a closed shop, unless you can find a wealthy backer.

Some of those backers have reaped rewards for clubs, others have turned to disaster. https://atthematch.com/article/how-the-oystons-destroyed-blackpool

I felt so strongly about it in 1992, that I swore I would never watch the team I love if it ever reached the Premier League and I could bore you with many reasons for that.

This scenario of the European Super League is even worse, but it's what comes of 30 years of what we have all bought into. If you paid to go to a Prem game, if you paid a subscription to SKY or BT, we have all bought into this..

Now the top six want an even bigger slice of the cake, so there can be no more Leicester's with their wealthy backers, so their can be no tinpot Gillingham's trying to hault the progress of Manchester City. So there can be no West Ham at the upper end of the market taking the European place of Arsenal or Spurs

They will want B Teams next as part of their package, we may stand in solidatory together now, but I will always think what about the Bury's and Wimbledon's, Halifax, Hereford and Newport before them.

It's like horse racing for the Kings, we have no control of the destiny, they will just water it down and as always, the paying tv viewer, will be all that matters.

80,000 at Spurs is nothing to them, compared to millions viewing on a world wide stage, spectators, why do THEY need them, covid has taught them to manage without us. The American dream.

Thought I was quoting Fosse on the European thread....will go post it there.

Rogers won’t go there. Spurs are in the mix for this ****house league and Rogers has a good thing going at Leicester. He’ll get the City job when Pep bounces.

Fair shout ... and closer to my take ... he won't go to Spurs coz it's not a big enough step up at this point in time ... nor Arsenal for that matter ... you or Citeh would be attractive to him without doubt although a slower burner ...

Fact is, if he can keep us up there competing whilst developing young players it will be viewed as 'success' and strengthen his marketability for those Top jobs ... and this squad will be even better next season, so might be a no brainer ...

He makes all the right noises and when interviewed recently gave some nice sound bites about going to us to be part of the 'journey' and how he was committed to seeing it through blah blah ... loves a sound bite does Brenda ... but I also think he is very conscious about his 'integrity' and how he is viewed <cheers>

could do his usual 2-3 years then stagnate.

maybe a payoff will let Leicester look at an up an coming man with his roots close to developing young talent

It is.

As much as I like ripping the piss out of Spurs, they are a much bigger club than Lesta.

As for Arsenal, they will stick with Arteta for at least another season to see how it pans out. But if Rogers was offered the Arsenal job, he'd probably take it. It's a massive step up from Lesta mate.

Not right now they’re not. Their squad is poor and on the decline and they’re skint after spaffing a billy on a massive toilet bowl.

It’ll be Nuno next for Spurs imo.

Yeah I agree not right now.

At the moment they are in a hole. But they are still a much bigger club than Lesta. I don't think Rogers will go there because (1) He's got a good project on the go at Lesta (2) Levy won't pay the compo that Lesta will demand.

The challenge might tempt him though, but he'd want a significant war chest which Levy won't give him coz they are brassic.

Nuno is a good shout, but I reckon Levy might baulk at the compo on that deal and bring in a safe pair of hands life Rafa

Didn't mention bigger club Ponky ... you did ... what I did say is that it is not a big enough step up at this point in time ... which I maintain

As to Arsenal? ... well as Jamie Vardy turning you down showed, you are sometimes much better off staying where you are <cheers>
