Vaughan at left wing will have 3 main outcomes.

1) Vaughan will struggle and become a crowd boo boy (he isn't a winger, has stated he doesnt want to be a winger and consequently will be lousy as a winger)

2) The lad will become pissed off playing in a position he isn't used to, doesnt want to play in and becoming the brunt of fans frustrations

3) We will struggle as a unit and look as lop sided as we have done for 3 or 4 years.

Every man and his dog (and their dog to be honest) knew we needed a left winger this summer. If we get to the end of August and one hasn't been brought in, I think for all the good work done by Bruce so far, this will be a massive mistake and one he may well regret. Square pegs in round holes dont work. We are the past masters of this failed strategy for about 30 years now.

1-0 may not be the end of thew world against Burnley but pre season or not, its still very poor with only 2 games now between us and a resurgent Liverpool at Anfield. That was almost a full team out there as well dont forget.

your right Cest arse twitching time but still time to realise a left winger is urgently required

Sorry Cest but it sounds very much like lets jump on Bruce at the first chance and whatever you may say it does sound it to me.

Why oh why is it so hard to simply believe Bruce? Sounds very sensible to me, many of us wanted to see what a 4-4-2 would be like with Gyan and Wickham, sess has played every game so why not give him a break.

I will wait and see.

Not at all Syd. Just discussing the facts. We are currently woefully under strength when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net. Having only one recognised striker, proven that is at the top level, is not good enough for a team that has top 10 ambitions again. If Gyan got a knock the day after the window closed and no other striker had been brought in, would you still be so critical of my opinions?

I have no doubts Bruce wont go into the new season without another attacking option and as I have said in another post, if that turns out to be Adam Johnson (assuming he is up for loan that is) then all hail the Bruce. AJ can play as a 2nd striker or wide left / right and would be a huge 'marquee signing' we all crave.

If he doest, we are simply gambling again. I think thats a legitimate argument dont you?

Colbeck is no more a winger than I am. He would only end up frustrated and pissed off playing there. His whole game is made up of controlling the ball in the centre of the action.

Surely Steed is better off there if no other options are available.
