Mars

I watched a programme about it some time ago

It is thought that the Martians would evolve in a different way to the people left on Earth, would still be identifiable as human but would be almost a seperate species

The really interesting point raised was that if conditions worsened on Earth and greatly improved on Mars would the Martians allow migrants from Earth to move to Mars

Probably not was the conclusion

They'd need a referendum. <whistle>

Smaller planet. We'd soon have cries of "we're only a small planet and we're full!"

Some things they will have in common with us lol

It is inevitable we'll end up colonising another planet/moon. Unless a meteor doesn't wipe us out first. The biggest obstacle must be the speed of travel though surely?

You can just imagine the evolved Martians in a few hundred years - '****ing primitive humans coming here with their big cocks and taking our women - I mean jobs'. :afro:

You already know the answer to that one, 50,000 years to the next nearest star.

It's probably how humans evolved on Earth....just putting the idea out there bro.

Forms of propulsion will evolve - they always do. Rockets will seem primitive one day: there's already tons of work being done with anti-matter and anti-gravity. They're just not safe or compact enough yet.

Be funny if we actually all originally came from Mars....ET go home!

All the building blocks that made us came from stars and supernova, and some say the complex molecules that formed the first organic matter came from comets (with little evidence, it has to be said).

Er...moon, mars....sun nah too hot that one....I know let's go to Earth <ok>

Reminds me of that famous interview between Ali G and Buzz Aldrin : 'So den, when do y'think man will walk on the surface of the sun?' 'Eh, er, never!'' Wot, not even if they go at nightime?' Magnificent. <laugh>

Imagine it. Mars is dying. An advanced civilisation, but not yet able to travel millions of miles on their life expectancy decide to place a primitive life form which can survive... a few amoeba... in a container which they stick in a rocket headed for the nearest planet. It crashes on Earth just as Earth is cooling. And the rest as they say is history!

Literally like fish spawning in the sea.
