Since i was a kid i have always wanted to find some really clever scientist and ask them a couple of questions

What caused the big bang if there was nothing there to start with

If the universe is still expanding what is it expanding into

OK maybe one more

If the answer to question 2 is "into the void" then the void in what

<laugh>

Our minds are physically trapped and limited by our experience that everything is inside something else, something can not come from nothing, and there must be a beginning to everything. We simply can not imagine nothing, the best we can do is imagine the absence of the tings we know. But we can express nothing and infinity in mathematical terms. And rather than thinking of zero as nothing, think of -1 plus + 1. Or the other way around. Or as George says in Yellow Submarine 'It's all in the mind'. :emoticon-0175-drunk

I'd love to see that play out. Knowing you Diego I'll give it half an hour before you do his head in and he tells you to fck off <laugh>

Woah religion? Hold the fck on bro. I'll have you know God told me Mars is the promised land.

It may look like a dry desert wasteland in the middle of nowhere but it's holy land I tell ye!

<laugh>

Mars was never intended to be the promised land, it's merely to see if it holds any clues connecting to Earth, and can it be used as a stepping stone to further our journey into space. Mars is nowt but a dead planet - I watched that programme you posted up, very interesting, certainly told you everything you needed to know about how it became a wasteland. If people are looking for little green men, they are going to be very disappointed.

In that respect, the belief in the spiritual aspect of an afterlife is very similar <whistle>

Might be fossilised, little green microbes though. <diva>

Yes, we were only talking about this on our board a couple of months ago about the similarities in unprovable, left-field wings of particle and metaphysical sciences, such as Many World theory and the Anthropic principle, and how medievel monks - who were damn good mathematicians - speculated on angels dancing on the heads of pins, and 'proved' the universe was geo-centric through their calculations of wandering stars.

Then our universe really did collapse. :emoticon-0114-dull:

Might be something fossilised. I know it's going to bring back samples from Mars, if the technology goes without any glitches.

Viruses from bats will be the least of our problems. Good luck finding a vaccine for that.

The irony of looking for a way for people to carry on the hunan race beyond this planet, only for some unknown disease from Mars to wipe us all out here once and for all <laugh>

i like to look at the moon and the sun.

i've never once felt the urge to look any closer.

they are like snow, nice to look at.

Funny you should say that, the thought had crossed my mind <laugh>

I assume the capsules holding the samples will only be opened under strict conditions. What's that you say, Wuhan...I raise you the Kent strain. :cheesy:
