I saw a documentary abut open heart surgery in Russia, they didn't use drugs to slow her heart down, the stuck a slab of ice under their head and, after a while the metabolic rate dropped ridiculously low, like 1 beat every couple of minutes. Can't use cryogenics though, as water expands when frozen so it pretty much destroys all the cells.

Stupid humans think they can colonise other planets in the hope of existing forever <laugh>

Other species maybe but not humans because we are destructive by nature...we have been given a Planet that strangely enough is absolutely perfect for our existence and we are destroying it at an alarming rate...but yeh we need another one so we can start the same process,I mean live on that one in better way

never happening so long as humans are humans. Floating about in a space suit living in big glass domes with gas masks to balance the toxic atmosphere is not the same as living on planet Earth

Is it wrong to dream that we won't completely destroy ourselves , either by accident or design, some time over the next few decades?

We've been going to Mars fairly regularly for the last 30 years or so, it just seems like a rush because Mars' orbit around the sun means there's a narrow launch window when everyone has to get their missions launched if they wanna go.
