Erm...... You were doing so well but... AVB, a League winner and a UEFA Cup winner at a club where he was the manager and not the players. Judge him at a club that isnt in disarray as chelsea were last season with ego maniacs trying to inflate them more and more. AVB failed at Chelsea because of the chelsea players, the fact some were older than him and the fact he had the guts to drop some of them made him very unpopular. Had a fergie or Arsene done it none of those players would of played for chelsea again because at all other clubs, the manager is boss. RDM who as I said, did nothing except be there was a mate of these old guys who had zero pressure or expectations. It just so happened that they won the CL. For a few its given the impression he was a genius, rather like your lot did with Rafa and well, he was awful ( though vastly superior to RDM at this stage of his career ). This is the season to judge them both but last season counts for nothing under the circumstances. The Chelsea players cost AVB his job as much if not more than himself and theres no way to say AVB wouldnt of been as successful had they done their job and backed the guy. Why nobody can see how big a bunch of ****s those players must of been running off to Roman crying like a bunch of school girls because he didnt select them for a game. Pathetic behaviour. At spurs he will be working with far better professionals ( note I didnt say players ) who might show the guy some respect. What I will say is rubbish managers dont win titles unbeaten regardless of the league. They also dont happen to benefit from the insight of Sir Bobby Robson and Jose Mourinho* *speaking of Jose and those who have worked under him, funny how you slate AVB but yet have high hopes of a manager who is also one of Joses former backroom staff. I suppose you consider Rodgers better than AVB aswell?
Didn't Roberto Di Matteo do something that the so called greatest manager in the universe Sir Alex Ferguson failed to do in two Champions league finals and that is outwit Barcelona? Yes they defended for dear life, but they spent a proportion of the game with 10 men, because their captain is a tit. What they did against Barcelona was tactically brilliant by RDM. The proof is they got to the final. What they did required guts and courage. Manchester United in 2008 were the same, what they did against Barcelona in the semi was just as impeccable. If fancy football was the be all and end all of everything, Arsenal the best footballing side in English football would have won the at least 5 of the last 7 titles. Sorry to disappoint you, but its a results business, and sometimes its win at all costs and thats what Chelsea did. It was all down to the astute coaching of Roberto Di Matteo. He deserves praise for what he did, and he did it all with exactly the same players AVB had, and they had egos with him too.
I wouldn't call parking-the-bus "outwitting" Barcelona, exactly. SAF made the mistake of trying to play football against Barca, whereas RDM went for the old "let's kill this game stone dead" approach.
Exactly. However our tactics were wrong and theres were....... incredibly lucky..........and right. Cant deny that. Still Chelsea used up enough luck in the CL last season to cover them for the next billion years.
You mean parking the bus, relying on Messi missing a penalty, and hoping Barcelona finished as badly as Liverpool? If Barca had finished that badly in the two finals, we'd have our own CL trophy by now!
That's it, forget we went down to 10 men and came back to 2-2. Messi's penalty caused that of course.... (shouldn't have been a penalty anyway)
It could be said had barcelona played like they did v Chelsea an not like they did v us ( at their very best ) we may also of won 5 instead of 3.
Or had Barcelona played against Chelsea like they did against us then Barcelona would have five and Chelsea would have none. And if your aunt had balls she would be your uncle.
They did, it was Messi that didn't Barca ripped Chelsea a new one only for Messi to fluff everything, given his record I think he was allowed an off day, it just had to be against the chav ****s but "I'm supporting chelsea 5 years" supporters call it the greatest CL win of all time and ban from the chav board when you say different
That happened in 1999 when the best team in england became the best cup team in england and the champions of europe
