This is starting to remind me of when Matt Busby retired.

Is he the guy they named the hats after, when we won at Waterloo? Were you there?

To be fair on Moyes, it was always going to be a hard act stepping into Fergies shoes. Hopefully we should not have that issue when and if AW decides to call it a day, particularly with AW's recent legacy.

If Wenger leaves, obviously he should get a say on who his next successor should be, but let's say he decides to stay for another 5+ years and in that time Bould continues to be his 2nd hand man, then maybe we can promote Bould to the main position. The man is an Arsenal man, he has played for us, played under Wenger, coached our academy to success, learned under Wenger as a coach, so he has the Arsenal philosophy ingrained in him, and on top of that he brings that added defensive steel and discipline with him as well which makes for a good combination. I think that would be a far more ideal option than bringing in someone from outside, let the successor come from inside, and Bould would deserve it.

That's what Barca have been doing of late, promoting from within, and it seems to have worked the job and kept them stable.

I agree Arsenal87. I wouldn't mind if Bergkamp was brought in as well in some capacity.

Would be good to have Bergkamp take charge at the youth level, and then overtime we need to integrate the likes of Henry-Pires as well to coaching roles. If Bergkamp didn't have his fear of flying, then down the road he would have been an ideal candidate for our future manager.

I really think that there is a huge difference between coaching and managing.

It seems to me that ex-players often make very good coaches, but do not always make the best managers. Personally, I think clubs like Arsenal need to get professional managers rather than an ex-player trading on their playing legacy.

Obviously, most managers have played in some capacity, but it does seem that the really great players do not transition well to performing the strategic, financial and people-management aspects.

Lehmann, Adams, Campbell, Bould, Dixon, Keown, Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp and Henry should all take over so we have 10 joint managers (possibly with Mert in there as player-manager). Bosh... no-one will stop us then.

Bergs has previously said that he wouldn't want to be a manager due to his fear of flying.
When Wenger does retire, Arsenal could do a lot worse than the de Boer & Bergkamp combo.

Bergkamp for me, if he's up to the job.
Best player I ever saw at Arsenal.

Possibly. Guy loves football, loves to play football the right way, and seems pretty good at his job.
