On reading the news Russ Wilcox has quickly found new employment following his sacking across the bridge it made me think about how fickle football management is and how managers can quickly go from heros and touted for bigger jobs to been sacked and on some occasions unemployable.

Couple off top of my head

Lawrie Sanchez....was herolded when he did well with NI, then failed at Fulham and last managed in Greece
Alan Curbishly, Charlton hero, left West Ham after falling out over transfer policy...not managed since.

Any others...
 
I think in Curbishley's case he's been in demand but not fancied the offers.
 
Not really hero to zero but our Phil Parkinson was touted as being the next big thing when he came to us, now back in League 1.
 
Peter Taylor is still working but can't persuade another big club to take him on.

I believe he couldn't or didn't want to work until the dispute with West Spam was settled after he left.
 
Brian Clough was supposed to be the bees' knees, but he hasn't worked in years.

Brown is the most obvious one there is. Or how about Paul Le Guen? He was europe's most sought after manager and it was a massive coup when Rangers got him. Strangely he was an absolute disaster there.

I dont know anyone who thought he was doing a good job. We went massively backwards after Pearson. He was badly treated by the Allams in terms of how they did it, but on pitch performances were getting progressively worse.
 
Owen Coyle. He did brilliantly at Burnley, started really well at Bolton and they were one of the best sides outside the top 4, then got relegated the next year and he's gone downhill since.
