I haven't seen a single article with credibility that suggests Monk is even remotely close to be considered as Laudrups replacement. Some of the conclusions being made here are melodramatic, people falling for media talk just as the media said we were signing Tom Ince.
I agree Project. I'm just looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully some clarity ... and then to the Cardiff match.
I think the reports are clear regarding Monk. It states he's joining the backroom staff. Nothing more
Graeme jones with Garry monk as his no2 is imminent... News » Football FEB 04 2014 Swansea Chairman Pin Points Laudrup Replacement Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins is lining up Everton’s assistant Graeme Jones as the man to replace Michael Laudrup as the clubs manager. The future of Laudrup has been thrown into question after the Dane has overlooked just one victory from his last nine league matches leaving the Swans languishing just two points from the relegation zone. Jenkins and supporters alike fear that if Laudrup remains in charge, Swansea would be dragged deeper in the relegation scrap with 14 matches remaining. Therefore according to the Telegraph, Swansea are eyeing up Jones as the ideal man to replace Laudrup. Jones was assistant to Roberto Martinez whilst in charge at the Liberty and since followed the Spaniard to Goodison Park. Jenkins looked at the possibility of giving Jones the permanent managers position after Martinez’s departure and after Brendan Rodgers left for Liverpool. However one conundrum they face is that Laudrup only signed a new deal at in March last year and it would therefore take a hefty compensation figure to release him. SOS pay him off now it's worth every penny...
Why on earth are we looking at Graeme Jones. He's a perfectly adequate no.2 and for me that's where it ends. I can see why they would have looked at him 2/4 years ago but not now. Club assistant managers very rarely make it as the main man. I just can't see what he offers us.
Again just pure speculation. The Board are trying to keep ML but re energise the coaching/environment. By appointing Monk they hope to reconnect the players with the Club and City. We need to rekindle the underdog feeling and make sure we harness the "us against the world attitude". Those battling qualities served us well for the last two seasons.
Yes I accept you were right Dai but I do think the board tried to get a compromise with him and Monk. ML was obviously not having it. Think I can see both points of views on this.
My comment about speculation was in relation to Jones. Can't see it happening. But who knows I may be wrong.
Care to explain why there should be a board reshuffle? Results have been piss poor for god knows how long and performances have been very poor at times.
Do you really think I'm alone in my thinking valley , seriously , prepare for the backlash and a ruined season .
