Manchester United are ready to make a swap offer for Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The Manchester Evening News says Danny Welbeck is enjoying a hugely successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light and Steve Bruce wants to sign the 20-year-old, especially following Darren Bent's surprise mover to Aston Villa in January.

The experience and defensive qualities of defender Wes Brown, who fell out of favour with Fergie this season before his recent recall as injuries mounted up, are also attractive to Bruce.

Welbeck, on his own or the double package, would be the kind of deal that could persuade Sunderland to part with Henderson.

Despite the muppets attempts to wreck you post Roger and getting back to your question, I would say yes.

Wellbecks is a difficult position to fill, players like him just don't come along very often, decent defenders are similar and Wes Brown would be a great addition for us, Henderson, while being decent is replaceable IMO. I don't think he's as good as Meyler and once fit i can't see where Hendo would fit in for us.

If there's a deal to be done then we should snap SAF's hands off.

If all of us can see that Welbeck is a better bet than Henderson, Ferguson must, mustn't he? I can't see this ever happening, but would love it, just love it, if I was wrong.

Ferguson must see something and the potential, lets face it he wouldnt give Wellie up lightly unless he thinks he has the better deal

Like I said, Rog, I just don't think it will happen. I reckon it's paper talk, but would happily be proved wrong.

must have been composing when you posted sorry but both thinking the same, still recon Brucie has the hots for his siggy

I'll be honest, I've not seen anything of Welbeck since he went to Sunderland, apart from the odd goal on MOTD/Goals on Sunday/SSN or whatever. Has he really been that good? I know Fergie rates him very highly (hence him predicting Welbeck would go to the World Cup in South Africa, which didn't work out too well), but when I saw him play for us I was never that impressed. You reckon he's good enough for the highest level?

He's still "work in progress", and was out injured for a couple of months, but I think it would be fair to say that he's improving all the time. How far that improvement goes....?

Unquestionably mate.

At first he was pretty average, at best, but as he settled into the sde and got used to the Premier he got better, and he's a fantastic talent.

He's so good on the ball it's untrue, he looks like he hasn't got the ball under control, but invariably he has.

I think he's got what it takes, but i hope he stays here, ONLY if it's for keeps though, another loan will not help us progress as a club.

Have a look at the control and shot against Liverpool, very high standard, if that was Berb or Rooney you would be still singing the praises, exceptional quality

I think we are all missing the point with Hendo, he is very much a work in progress but needs to be used less, at our stage its not what we need, at Man U he would blossom. Welbeck and Brown are for us with Welbeck one of 4, Gyan,Welbeck,Campbell and big summer signing.

At least hes in the England set up mate, you saying they cant spot talent, if so where does that leave Sheera

So what , Carlton Cole used to be linked to all sorts of big teams and was also included in the England set up a few years ago. Would love to hear the expert's opinions on him now... If I was Bruce , God forbid , I would accept anything above 4-5m for him.
