Manchester City have been banned from European competition for the next two seasons after being found to have committed "serious breaches" of Uefa's club licensing and financial fair play regulations.

The reigning Premier League champions have also been fined 30m euros (£25m).

Its nice to see some Karma.

Love it. They will appeal, and probably win but its a great headline. I think Pep will be away at the end of the season as well.

City's statement...

"Manchester City is disappointed but not surprised by today's announcement by the UEFA Adjudicatory Chamber. The Club has always anticipated the ultimate need to seek out an independent body and process to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence in support of its position.

"In December 2018, the UEFA Chief Investigator publicly previewed the outcome and sanction he intended to be delivered to Manchester City, before any investigation had even begun. The subsequent flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process he oversaw has meant that there was little doubt in the result that he would deliver. The Club has formally complained to the UEFA Disciplinary body, a complaint which was validated by a CAS ruling.

Simply put, this is a case initiated by UEFA, prosecuted by UEFA and judged by UEFA. With this prejudicial process now over, the Club will pursue an impartial judgment as quickly as possible and will therefore, in the first instance, commence proceedings with the Court of Arbitration for Sport at the earliest opportunity."

I would love to see Liverpool going the same way..

Liverpool have done their buisness wisely though mate. They sold Suarez , Sterling and Coutinho for ridiculous money and replaced them with cheaper players that have gone on to be just as good if not better.
Theyve also always been a huge club with a large turnover, unlike City that were probably as big as us before the Arabs took over.

Just the thought of Scousers mouthing off when they win things makes me want it to be them though mate..:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

will man c be in the Europa league then ? they could have wound up in league 1 though, and talking of that how did Chelsea get their transfer embargo lifted ?. Juventus want Pep so that will be that they will get him on the cheap now. They should get Moyes in and have a taste of what we've been going through. The joke is Man u will take their place.

If Man City did lie about the Etihad sponsorship the ban will stick imo.

I think it's been an open secret that they've been fiddling the books and it was only a matter of time before it caught up with them.

Doesn't make much difference practically, their owners can pay any fine and they're useless on the world stage anyway Pep or no Pep.

Not sure about that. Be harder for them to keep and attract new players and no Champions League footy would cost them the best part of £100 mil over 2 seasons. Possible points reduction in the Prem as well according to the Independent which would be a few more quid lost. I suppose they could always get a new sponsorship deal with Etihad to cover it like.

I hope they do feel the effects of the sanctions, I used to like City but they're one of those teams that disgusts me a little bit now with the way they use money.

They aren't the only ones by any means and hopefully it sends a message to the others.
