Even if we don't go up we should stick with the new regime, they will be looking for inward investment along the way, I think they have already said as much. Any how what's the alternative, some people need to get real, we are where we are, thanks to the mistakes of the past. I would only change my opinion, if these new lads start going down the same route, so far there is not the slightest sign of this and we should all be grateful for that.

We signed a special stipulation with the efl. Stu explains it in his first podcast but in a word no, we've agreed our wage bill is to be directly revenue related so doesn't matter if we had a 100m to offset .the agreement we signed means we can't.

I thought that was the case for all EFL clubs. In League 1, clubs are allowed to spend 60% of turnover on wages. So in theory, if we're not spending that much of the turnover on wages, we could use some revenue that has been earmarked for transfers to spend on wages as long as we didn't go above the 60% mark.

I'd imagine we're already way above that, hence the "special stipulation"? Just guessing like, could be wrong!

We're beyond that mate. Which is why we had to sign this stand alone agreement. It was a condition they had to sign in order to buy the club, basically administration was that close. It's all in Stu's first rr podcast anyway. He explains it better than me but they weren't aloud to buy us without signing it.

It also shows Short handing us over debt free for a small pay off was the only way he was ever going to make anything back. Oh we were ****ed. These lads have saved us from the brink which is why I don't like them being slagged off.

Fair enough. It rings a vague bell the more I think about it actually. The main thing I was listening out for on that podcast was for any loopholes that Ellis had left in the deal.

I think Donald and Methven have a done a good job so far and what they talk about in terms of their plans sounds both positive and sensible. They won't get everything right and when they don't they'll get justifiably criticised. But I think they know that. Sometime what they say sounds a bit too good to be true and I hope that it's not hot air. My gut feeling is that it probably isn't. You've got to admit though, the set of circumstances that we were in were about the only opportunity that these two were ever going to get to buy a club the size of Sunderland. I think they know that too and that's why Juan Sartori is so important. The danger is, with them being relatively poor by the standards of football club owners, that something is going to come along that is just a stretch too far for them.

If fair play rules across the board were fair it wouldn't matter how much an owner's personal wealth amounted to, we'd all have to be sustainable. Unfortunately it's not fair and some clubs are still twisting rules and getting away with it.

Not really surprised with that Bri.
He was always going to take time to settle and even more so to make an impact.
Not even keeping a bench seat warm must worry him though.

Everybody should want to see him do well because it benefits the club.

He's a 19 year old kid who got to leave the 3rd division to live and work in Bordeaux. The speculation never affected his performances while he was here, he continued to bang them in. Can't we just be grateful for what he did, rather than be bitter?

What did he do that was so wrong, or do you think you'll be kicking off every time somebody gets sold to go and play at a higher level?
