Pinched this from a post in my newsfeed on FB. Not sure how accurate it is though.... Been almost 3 months since Maja pissed off to France Here's how he's been getting on. Hope it was worth it! #WhatCouldHaveBeen Matches 5 Started 2 Minutes per game 28 Goals 0 Goals per game 0.0 Shots per game 0.2 Big chances missed 0 Assists 0 Accurate passes per game 5.4 (75%) Big chances created 0 Interceptions per game 0.0 Tackles won per game 0 Dribbled past per game 0.0 Clearances per game 0.0 Error led to shot 0 Error led to goal 0 #SeasonOf2Halves Bordeaux drew 1-1 with Rennes today- Maja was an unused sub. Please don't let Benji Kimpioka become another cautionary tale like Asoro and Maja have. I'll say this about Charlie Wyke... He's done far more for us than Josh Maja has for Bordeaux, and for about 20% of the price. He's had injuries but he's yet to have any sudden illnesses.
I watched part of the Swansea v City game and Asoro has about 3 touches and looked atrocious. Carried the ball really badly and still hasn’t learned to look up, great sale that one. The stats on Maja are a little unfair, he wasn’t expected to play at all. I don’t think even short term we’ve missed either, Grigg is a better player all round than Maja, he’s not scoring as many ‘per game’ but the team is scoring more and there’s generally a better balance to the side, bar that problem second striker/number 10 issue that we can’t change right now. I’d like to see Maja do well personally, I get why he choose to leave, whereas Asoro, there’s no real ‘challenge’ ‘step up’. He went to a smaller club that isn’t ever going to offer anything, at least with Maja there’s a genuinely new culture and experience, and shouts of European football at some point.
It's not surprising that he's gone from Walsall to PSG and hasn't hit the ground running but he hasn't done himself any favours by slamming the brakes on his development in favour of earning more money. No game time and no goals won't do his career any good in the long term. I think Bordeaux wanted to slot him into the first team and he started the first couple of games, could well be wrong about that, regardless now he's an unused sub. I don't really give a **** about him either way but I believe he made a mistake leaving when he did.
Thing is Maja is not even getting reserve game time. He's gone from playing every game at a competitive level to not playing at all. In no way is that good for his development. It was stupid move to make, one that is utterly damaging to his progress. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
He's only been there a couple months, at the most. He's got better players in his position than he did at Sunderland. The Bordeaux manager even said something along the lines of Maja being for the future. I think it's really unfair and unsavory to be glorifying in his 'demise' already.
I say well done to the lad, but you know things you notice ‘126 people talking about this’. That’s a real lack of interest in a football clubs posts ain’t it? As a reference, 09’s last post was about 1,400, and we are in League One.
