A good "Skudding" meant the same as a good hiding when I was a kid and some if my older family members still use it as that, wait til I tell them the Washington meaning!
I remember being at school when the french foreign exchange students came in one year and we persuaded one of the lads (who was as thick as a table top) to say "bonjour suce mon cheb" instead of "hello how are you?"... He said it so badly I don't think the french kids understood what he was saying anyway but the teacher went purple.
