I wouldn't worry too much I probably wiLl have made it through half the group by nightfall...So what suggestions do we have for the first day? I see Astro had one suggestion of police chief choosing half the people to go up for a lynch. Anyone like that idea? Any alternate ideas?

I am content to go with a No lynch for now until something happens.

You can activate another cop to work with you. As far as I understand there is no reason to not do this straight away since using the money to protect people probably isn't so useful at this point.
He may recruit a mafia though, then we will have a bent copper.

No the cop is already chosen to be one of the townspeople, afcftw doesn't choose he just activates.
Happy to go no lynch if that what's we decide, but isn't it maybe worth trying to put pressure on some people? Not sure what we really gain if too many vote no lynch.

If afc activates the other cop that gives those 2 some leeway in terms of ruling someone out of being Mafia and still gives us an innocent cop if afc is taken out tonight (I think he can be can't he?) if he's taken out via a kill and he hasn't activated then does that mean te 2nd cop can't be activated?
Also afc, what can you do? Takes ages to scroll on phone... If you can investigate at same time might be worth doing that as well on somone random.

The police chief:
The chief is a straight up good guy, an old hand at being beat cop in uniform that is a known innocent on day 1. As he eats a lot of doughnuts he knows F all though.
As a known innocent he has some gravitas but there’s no point just believing he’s right cos he could be chief wiggum.
The chief has 4 powers:
1. The cop has body armor. Any attempt to kill him will reveal the killer to the cop and will result in a straight coin toss whether it succeeds or not. If it is not successful then the cop will know who the killer is.
2. The cop can arrest one player each night if he chooses. That player is then protected but cannot take any actions. This is an unlimited tool as the drunk tank is open all hours however the drunk tank is not necessarily the safest place in the world. The arrest needs to be made before 8pm. He can’t arrest people twice in a row cos that’s police harassment.
3. The cop can go to the feds and get someone placed in witness protection. This is costly though…. And the cops can’t afford to do it much. If the cop chooses to place someone in witness protection they are removed completely from harm, it means the person is taken out of the town so cannot be lynched that night.
Please note that due to the paper work involved the cop must choose between actions 2 and 3. He cannot do both.
4. Major crimes division. The cop can choose if he wishes to set up a major crimes unit (one person joins the cops) This is costly as it will require setting up a tech division but it does add some more powers and a team mate to work with. One person has been selected to be this extra police already. They will be a townsperson day one, after that anything could happen.
The police budget starts at 50k.
Placing someone in witness protection will cost 25k
Setting up a major crimes unit will cost 45k
The cost of locking someone up is 5k (this is the cost of processing the person)
The cops get a slice of the town’s tax take each day. 10k per day is given to the police.

Afaik I can't be taken out night one as it costs too much so no pressure to use it or lose it first night though I can see the benefit of doing so
