He might go this season if he's unable to pull the club up from it's nosedive after the next few games. Confidence is likely going to be non-existent by the time we play Luton again and that can have a huge effect. If we lose as expected the next two league games and fail to win against Luton, I wouldn't be surprised to be waking up to Howe's out headlines. It would be a shame if they do that and have none better to replace him with.
And boy are you enjoying trying to stick the knife in. You want him gone but can’t even suggest who would come in. Great planning that would be. And all the while being so close to the team to be able to give us all that insightful insider information.
Basically he's using the "lies, damn lies and statistics" point of view. Its a fact in the same way as saying "Alex Ferguson won some trophies at Man U, but also lost 1-6 to their biggest rivals" is also technically a fact.
Managing a team of players at that level and the egos is a bit different to the top six in the PL. We have a situation now where the ego of the players is big. We have 40/50/60 million pound players. The form itself right now is the concern. Let’s just get this month out of the way. Hope we beat Sunderland and get some players back from injury. Only then can we consider things if things don’t improve.
And they had spent more in relative terms and weren’t subject to FFP. Amazing how stories are refined when more perspective is given.
No FFP and spent 200m in the same period. Which is about 400m now I reckon. Just shows you though Man City didn’t mess around.
Think you might be wrong on comparison. Most expensive footballer in 2009 was Ronaldo at £80M. Most expensive footballer in 2023 is Neymar jr at £198M in 2017.
I don’t want Howe gone. I want him to learn and improve. I’ve stated that we need to ride it out. Hope for the best then in Feb if results don’t start coming then we start to consider things.
He was always a dead man walking there - when they money came in he finished 10th and had an awful season despite them having massively more than everyone else. After a summer of more big buys, then clearly wanted a bigger and more successful name. Difference here than the owners actually selected Howe themselves.
I’m guessing that that’s to do with inflation? Nothing to do with football players valuations which is the relevant point here.
Ideally. The Brighton manager has something about him. I would also like to see the chap at Girona. But he is maybe just having a purple patch. Apart from that I have no idea.
Yes I see what you’re saying. So yes inflation is taking it to 330m. Then if you factor in players valuations are more than doubled they have spent the equivalent of say £700m ish would you agree. So on that basis. Aye it’s a lot more than 400m we have spent. But they when you look at the value of the transfers they made Robinho was the highest at 32m when the world highest transfer was 80. The average signings were around 15-20m. They spent an awful lot of money.
