Lucas attempted more tackles despite only playing 12 games to Tiote's 24, he also won more tackles than Tiote last season.

Tiote tackles won 67%
Lucas tackles won 76%

Lucas ground duels won 63%
Tiote ground duels won 42%

Lucas aerial duels won 53%
Tiote aerial duels won 42%

And he's in the top 3 for EVERY single statistic on this chart, which is awesome.

Lucaas, some will argue that stats don't tell the whole story. It is clear to see by the way he plays and how we play with him in the squad...he is the better player. Tiote had a decent 1st season.

Maybe Tiote should be labelled "the new Andy Johnson" because he only had one decent season with Crystal Palace and he's still managed to get himself around the PL for decent transfer fees on reputation alone.
 
Tiote is average. Lucas is way better in every aspect of the game. If Tiote has any ambition to win a tropy he would best to get out of Newcastle and maybe join Birmingham because they have won more major trophys than Newcastle in recent times.
 
I rate Tiote, i think he is a quality player, but there are few better defensive midfielders better than Lucas in the Premier League and, IMO, Tiote is definitely not one of them. I would love to see the pair playing together though <ok>

All players go over the ball occasionally so I certainly won't condemn a player for doing it one or twice. If Tiote does it on a regular basis then I take it back <ok>
