In this game you had Raul M and Lucas in the middle... unless Spearing is better than Raul then I doubt you'll win the midfield battle..
BUT you have a far superior strikeforce. Suarez and Carroll/Kuty >>>> Loverkrands and Ameobi. Defence is pretty evenly matched if I'm honest. Enrique/Simpson(currently > Fannigan/Robinson(good potential mind) and Coloccini/Willo >= Carra/Skrtel?

You're understimating the effect playing for Roy Hodgson had on our players.
We lost 3-0 to Man City away with Gerrard & Lucas in midfield, we beat Man City 3-0 at home with Spearing and Lucas in midfield. No one is suggesting that Spearing is actually better than Gerrard bit maybe the balance and energy of Lucas & Spearing is better than that partnership, or maybe it was because Dalglish's tactics have benefitted our players and improved them. I am certain you'll see a different Liverpool from the one that played at St James' in December.

It'll be tough but I can see Nolan, Tiote and Barton having a effect in the midfield battle AND Guti troubling(to a certain degree) your young(yet gifted) RB Fannigan? Our strikers won't really trouble your defense much IMO unless we go 451 with Loverkrands and Ireland behind him.. but our manager will stick with Ameobi

I didn't invite them at all; this post was actually meant to ask you all what you thought of Lucas and where you ranked him in the list of all Premier league mids. But if you have a look on the newcastle board one of them was lurking on our board and decided to post a link to this discussion so they could jump in.

I know what you mean; it's not just this discussion but they seem to think they can genuinely go on and challenge for European places etc.. next season; where would that leave us? Do they genuinely believe that Newcastle are going to be higher than us next season? That's the insult.
Next week is a must win game; if we win and spurs either draw or lose to Chelsea then we're right in it for 5th place!
Yer it's a huge game, i'm not massively confident though, they will realy go for it to stick two fingers up at Carroll. Our young players are going to be really stretched again. All good experience though. I reckon it might be a bit of classic with lots of goals. Aka 4-3! What games they were.

Anyway back onto the argument. I also hear Lucas getting tonnes of stick, but whenever I've seen him play he's been decent. But, I'd go for Tiote anyway. It's kind of irrelevant because both of them pale in comparison to the mighty James Perch!

Newcastle have done well this season, and i think not panic buying a striker after Carroll went was a strong, and correct, decision. Whether his fee will be reinvested by Mike Ashley who knows. I expect a tough game, but i don't think anyone can realistically predict anything other that a Liverpool win. I expect the emphasis to be on Carroll and that he'll get a good kicking, and Suarez to fly under the radar and get 2 goals in a 3-1 win. I don't expect it to finish 11v11.
