Glad to see the four woman badminton doubles teams are potentially going to be expelled after deliberately trying to lose last night.

Have a break out area behind me where people hold unofficial meetings etc the TV which usually shows pro corperate propaganda is showing the Olympics so I watched that race, the Shooting, Judo and Anthony Ogogo boxing (who was on our books and is good mates with Chris Martin apparently).

Also found out today that a girl I know is Etienne Stott's cousin.

Great day for Team GB even though I was pissed off for Pembleton and Varnish, must admit I was glad seeing the Chinese being screwed over in the end I know that sounds childish but they do my head in at the Olympics.

Yeah, plus there is something about Michael Phelps which I hate, I don't know what but he is just pretty smug guy.

Saw Phelps with my own eyes yesterday. There's no doubt he's anoncredible athlete. In the 100m butterfly heats yesterday he went from 8th after 50m to 1st after 100m. It was brilliant to watch.

    i find this view startling.

michael phelps is one of the most inspirational and outstanding yet down to earth men at the olympics. check out his interviews and the way he jokes. he's remarkably modest for a man with his achievements and he helps others he's competing with - you really need to reassess your view. you seem to have got the view that he is 'smug' because he is always smiling in his interviews!

    he's a gentle giant <ok>

ryan lochte is also fantastic and how anyone can find their duals 'boring' is astonishing. you are watching two all-time great swimmers going hell for leather against each other and still be mates afterwards. i really do wonder about people sometimes - always looking for something to moan about... <doh>

Was anyone watching the cycling on BBC? They completely missed the live Medal ceremony for the GB 3 man team (Chris Hoy).
The coverage went to BBC2 at 7 O'Clock which then went into a 4 minute trailer for the 'Olympic coverage' which meant we not only missed the Aussie's attempt (one of our greatest rivals), but also the Medal ceremony in which we won GOLD! The Red button said "watch live cycling", so I used it, it went to Linekier interviewing a shooter, this went on for 20 minutes!!! Surely they could have broke off from that to show us the LIVE presentation of the GOLD medals. I eventually resorted to listening to it on radio 5 Live! Pretty poor coverage BBC!

Fantastic Wonky, can you describe the atmosphere? Were you there for all the events? Did you get a chance to look round the rest of the park?

they have to give it some basic stuff prime time on BBC 1 like interviews and recaps, but that's a bit poor.

looking foward to the team pursuit final later

still trying to get some athletics tickets, the website is so slow though as everyone is one there trying to get last minute ones!

I want to put forward a controversial thought here.
Sport plays a massive part of a great many peoples lives. Not only the professionals but the many of us who participate and are interested in most sports.
Until recently, sport, although popular with so many, was self supportive. There was very little funding and reliant on tobacco companies for help in some cases.
Universities now charge fees for tuition. Many people go to university and do not continue with their subject after qualifying. And I'm not being sexist when I say many women end up as mothers and housewives within ten years of qualifying.
Could we sustain a system like the American college system which so many Brits have benefitted from? There is a substantial income to be made for successful sportmen and women. There is a massive industry behind sports.
I would like to see Britain offer courses in all the major sports. Obviously they would be fee paying courses.

It was amazing. Incredibly loud, especially when there was a British athlete. The Olympic Park is great. I was only there for the swimming but saw a lot of the venues from the outside. It is well designed. There were more Lithuanians than any other country there, with the exception of GB! Definitely something I would recomend to anyone who enjoys sport. Saw the American NBC set where I got to see a gold medal. But the NBC coverage was awful they even tried a bit of cockney slang. One or two Brits near me yelled 'f---ing septics' so I then decided to run!

Security isn't as bad as it has suggested it has been/will be. The army are coping with it brilliantly.

Going back for athletics next week which should be good. <ok>

Wow, you sound bowled over by it! Genuinely pleased for you, sounds like a fantastic experience.

I'm going to the Athletics tomorrow and Sunday, I'm like a dog with two tails!!!!
Watched some of the athletic heats online, the crowd went mental when Jess Ennis did the Heptathlon hurdles, the noise was astonishing, just can't believe thats going to be me tomorrow.....hell I'm excited!!!!!!!!!
Planning to explore the park after our sessions!

i'm still gutted that i missed out on tickets, especially in the manner i did (ie, told i was successful by email and then find out later i wasn't <grr>) but just watching every event on tv, the atmosphere is really coming across well. looks fantastic - i just wish i was there!

I certainly was bowled over by it all ILD <ok> It is something we should enjoy because, as you said, it will never happen again. The crowd really went mental when Adlington came out for her heat. Almost went deaf. Even the Irish swimmers got huge support from the crowd. Make sure you have a look at the velodrome, even if it is from the outside, it is a fantastic building. Also, it is well worth bringing a camera.
