i never mentioned you throughout my post. i never suggested that YOU didn't enjoy it. i said if anyone didn't, they were either not british or were a daily mail reader. agree about mccartney - he cocked his bit up but i can understand why he was there. to be fair, it isn't supposed to be for anyone else really - its our chance to show our nation off - i loved the fact it was full of 'in-jokes' and 'british quirks'. anyone with any idea of our culture would have got it. my brother lives in america and said the people he watched it with all understood it but the nbc commentators were totally lost!! <laugh>

I think that's what it's all about, the experience, I'm really up for it now!
This is my second time, the first being Munich, and I suppose it will be the last time, I along with many many others will be able to experience it LIVE! We're hoping to see the whole park over the 2 days, and what we don't see then we will take in during the Paralympic's, got tickets for that as well.

Really liked the opening ceremony it took some bollocks to do that massive respect to Boyle for not producing some ****ty glossed up parade. If only the industrial revolution was that interesting at school!

The BBC have been annoying me during these Olympics overhyping certain Olympians, also the Paula Radcliffe love in can **** right off and do one, it's a massive disrespect to injured athletes who sit out their injuries and get on with it.

i've long despised the adulation of paula radcliffe from the media. yes she was the best in the business (for a very short space of time) but its nice to see others see through it too <ok>

I don't like this moan about it being too left-wing. No point in bringing politics into it. What if it was very right-wing show? Many left-wing politicians would be moaning. To be honest I don't care. Celebrating the NHS/GOSH for me is NOT political and was actually quite special for me because if it wasn't for the NHS I probably wouldn't be alive today. Anyone who is saying the opening ceremony was rubbish is boring and miserable!

Agree about the subtle hints to the British audience in the Archers theme tune as well as the Eastenders one. Great bits for the international audience as well with the Bond/Queen sequence and the comedy with Rowan Atkinson while the London Symphony Orchestra performed Chariots of Fire.

As for the sport, I've been loving it! Really enjoyed both road races and ended up screaming at the TV in the last 1km of the woman's race.

Now very excited about going to London on Thursday. Agree with what's been said above, just to be involved is fantastic as it's a once in a life time event (unless you're Dave in which case he's been to both the 1948 and even the 1908 games in London ;)).

I can't stand her, it's the constant searching for sympathy, the sense of entitlement and the tears wind me up. There are young people coming back from Afghanistan with missing limbs who still manage to inspire us all doing amazing things like climbing Everest and running marathons remain positive against all odds, her attitude is absolutely disgusting considering she has no disability and will no doubt get a cushty high paid media job in the end.

The BBC sucks bollocks sometimes, two Olympians I've noticed their obsessed with are Tom Daley and Rebecca Adlington (who in fairness has delivered) let them get on with it stop doing a Henman on them.

If it was right wing I'd imagine you'd have Boudicci racing about in a chariot singing Opera loads of Hooray Henry's in their fox hunting gear. The NHS is very important to this country we all have our opinions on how it should be run but never knock the role it plays in this country, I'm glad that we have such a thing as free healthcare I think about 95% of our country knows that be them right centre or left.

Beef seemed rather pissed off with the Japanese last night on twitter! <laugh> But a medal in the gymnastics for the first time in 100 years is brilliant!

i know very little about the dynamics of scoring in gymnastics but judging by the commentators they seemed to think that japan had been scored unfairly in the final round so although it did us no favours, and certainly not the ukrainians, it was fair in the end to move them back to 2nd.

As a marathon runner who does it for the love of it, I'm glad other people can see through Radcliffe.
Up to now, every major City marathon she has done has been accompanied by a cheque for £750K plus all expenses paid. Thats excluding any prize money. She chose to ignore running for her country, the same nation that gave her all the backing in the first place, in the World Championships so she could get her £750K for running the New York Marathon. Bear in mind that every club runner must join UK Athletics and pay a fiver for the privilege.
When she knows she can't win, she doesn't take part or pulls out blaming some injury. I'm not blowing my own trumpet here but to prove a point about what you should do, after 28K of the Paris Marathon last year, I felt a sudden pain. As it turned out, I had fractured my pelvis. But having spent a couple of grand on flights and hotels and meals (if you've been to Paris recently you'll know what I mean) I wasn't about to pull out. Luckily my wife was watching me at the time and jumped over the barrier and ran the last 14K with me. Thats what you do. You man up and get on with it. If you finish you've done your job, a medal is a bonus.
Paula Radcliffe, if she ever returns from Monaco when her career is over, no doubt she will be sat next to Foster and Cram commenting on all and sundry on a nice earner.

She's just riding on the fact that she won a few marathons about 10 years ago (correct me if I'm wrong) and the media believe she is still capable of the same now.

I've never run a marathon but in with you redruth, you have to put the effort in with the backing you get. I have a few health conditions that don't help me with regards to sport, whether it be cycling, running or tennis. When competing I've seen so many people pull out for small reasons while I continue despite my health conditions.

Also, apparently what she released to tell the media that she was pulling out was over a page long. Is that really necessary?

I'm fed up seeing Paule Radcliffe's crying face all over the place.
Giving up on 'anything' is complete bollocks, I don't care if she's injured or not, crying off a week before the biggest sporting event in our natiion's history is just ****ing selfish, and then bleating on and on about it is just the last straw.
She's worth millions so she must have the very best of health care, why haven't they been able to fix it? I guess we'll see her doing a Ryan Giggs...as soon as someone offers her a shed full of money to run again she will be miraculously fit again!! Millionaires bleating can all piss off.
I see the Hockey girl who got a belt in the face with a hockey stick resulting in a broken jaw, is having a plate put in and fully expects to play in the next game.........whinging ****s take note!!!!!!!!!!
