No big shock here. I can see why Pardew would hide it, protecting the player etc. I do think though that if players want to behave in this manner, the player and manager should just come out with it. Are the fans honestly going to be up in arms when they had already worked this out for themselves? I doubt it. For it then to come out afterwards anyway just makes Pardew look a bit silly, and Loic look a bit underhand. The reality is the player wanted to play at a World Cup, he has a terrible injury record, is not actually permanently attached to the club and the team had been marooned in no mans land for 5 months. You don't get many chances to play at a World Cup, so I fully understand why players protect themselves for it. I've never understood why fans get so upset about it, its a massive thing in a footballers career. His terminology of "we had nothing to play for" will upset some, but in the grand scheme of things when weighed up against going to a world cup, he is probably right.

Debuchy's situ is slightly different of course but his attitude is first class. One of the best signings we have made in a long time. He is also bomb proof bar the odd muscular problem.

Just shows you the type of mercenary Remy is. Self, self, self. Not what we need, lets look for a young, hungry player who wants to shine and yes in time move on knowing he's gave his all for our club.

I assume his wages were docked too?

You'd have to think so. This sort of thing would go way over Pardew's head, he wouldn't have the authority to sanction such things. Knowing the way Ashley is, I reckon he would have asked we stop paying his 80k wages a week early. Its probably all been agreed, lets face it Loic wouldn't miss the 80k! This is why I do not understand why they are just not open about it. If you said to most fans, "look we've ended the arrangement early because he wants to make sure he is fit to board the plane to the world cup". Instead we have the farcical mystery injury scenario which no one buys and everyone ends up looking silly. Pardew didn't need any help with that.

Obvious. Barely news. Just these things come out in the training camps. Issue with Newcastle is that because the club's 2014 performances have been so poor and the manager is so reviled, any NUFC comment will be given extra scrutiny. This Remy issue is one Pardew could have managed better, but he's not the brightest boy. Recent comparison to Sir Alex is laughable - not sure I recall this happening in 24 years at Man U.

Debuchy's also come out and said some potentially derisory things about being asked to stay back all the time by Pardew. Again it's obvious, we're all aware that Pardew is like Moyes - defend first. Stop the opposition is our priority. Don't get beat. It's the standard of the underwhelming manager - no defeats are better than dying by the sword.

But it's all known, really. We're not surprised. We see transfer links and love to complain, we see good names and we're immensely sceptical. It's football in the media, we just love to read it/hear it, regurgitate and foam at the mouth about it all. I'm personally beyond it. The apathy for me has well and truly kicked in. Once the Summer is over and we've brought in one, maybe two tops, I'll just shrug. I expect failure from NUFC now. I don't necessarily think Ashley is aware of quite how much further down we can go, but I suspect he'll work it out one day.

I don't think they are derisory comments really. If the comments are to be believed (L'Equipe have printed plenty of porkies), he simply noted he was frustrated at being asked to stay back by Pardew. He likes to attack. When with France, he gets more opportunity to do that. Quite frankly, that is because they are much better equipped than we are. They will have a lot of possession so the full backs get a lot more freedom. He can't have that freedom at Newcastle because it would be suicide. We are not good enough to give him that freedom. Some of that is undoubtedly down to coaching, but a large part is probably down to the resources at our disposal being weaker than many of our competitors. So a lot of the time you will have to set up to play counter attack, which is what our set of players is best suited to.

When I said "potentially derisory", I meant the way the media will spin it, and the way the now vast army of Pardew-haters will read it. No explanation necessary.

As the general definition of Derisory would be ridiculously small or inadequate I haven't got a clue what you are on about, yes I can fill in the gist of it but try using plain English.

The general definition of "the gist" contradicts your statement that you "haven't got a clue". Please refrain from using paradoxes the next time you bother to pass derogatory comments. Try using plain English.

Oh, look - I coincidentally found the word I should have used.

We should never had signed the little **** and let him rot in the fizzy pop.

Without Remy we would have been significantly lower in the table, possibly low enough that we would ourselves "be rotting in the fizzy pop league" next season.

I'm not enamoured with the guy buy I'm also neither blind nor stupid - we needed him this season.
